I roll raced an 850 from 20mph. It didn't go good for him.

When I ran him from a stop. Even trying to modulate throttle, it was no use. He would leave me by 2/3

I think the heavier 4S turbo will need more help from the dig.

Really bad conditions for both of us. I'm thinking my sled has the capacity to max out my gear. So speedo IND. 122/23. I'll find out in better conditions this year.

The stories I keep hearing is that after 100 feet, the 850 is done... Thats not the story I hear on dootalk. I just don't get how they think that a sled with 170hp sled is going to beat a 205hp sled. Thats alot to over come..

The SW IMO, just needs more traction... Maybe a different track and or longer studs... From what I am reading, I think the secondary clutching needs some attention.... The spring helix combo is not working...

I also think a new designed chassis to truely compliment the motor would help....

Pretty sure the 850 is at best 165hp but probably not even that high. As I had a 800 etec and it was claimed too have 163hp. They say the 850 supposed to have 10 more hp but all bs. The sidewinder now has claimed to be 200hp +++ but from what I've been told they were detuned from early proto type sleds. They are 181hp to 181hp . Which is still a lot of power Imo

Actually the opposite if you've been on this forum all year. 195 to 200 has been the norm in multiple dyno's everywhere

They have not been de-tunned.. The are 205+hp. Multiple dyno reports now all say the same. The 850 is 165-170hp and transfers better then the procross chassis. The claim about the 800 etec having 163 (you are right there) was incorrect. It was only 155-157 at most. The 850's clutching is pretty good out of the box from what I am told, which can be the reason as to why they are running so well. I am not sold on the sidewinders clutching so far, which to me is NOT something you see from Yamaha. It definitely does not seem like they got it right.

From my limited experience it is my opinion that out of the box, an 850 is better dialed in for the short run (660') vs a Sidewinder.

As stated, the 850 clutching is dailed in closer, transfers better and obviously lighter.

Don't be upset if one or two 850's jump you by three out of the hole. Reeling them in is not fun. Lol! Trust me.

Set up transfer, if you can get them within one, it's all down hill from there.

Again.....I didn't buy mine to sit on a lake and drag race. I'm going the route of achieving higher speeds. But.....We don't like to lose, no matter. Lol!

The 850 I raced ran out of steam at 109mph. Which is probably closer to 103mph. And my winder hit 120. Which is probably 117mph. Under horrible conditions.

Out of the box the winder is not the quickest sled built. That's all. No biggie. But dammit, it sure can haul the mail.

Not to mention speeds of 130mph+ are just a phone call away. Lol!

Can an 850 do that? No, not going to happen. Not even close.

Well today we had our local Sled Fest events on our local lake. 500 ft radar runs. I gave in to pressure from a turboed Nytro guy who was heavily studded. 3 runs each. We both chose to run on the hard packed snow instead of ice. 20 mph cross winds kept me drifting onto ice. Last pass I set rear shock on stiff and lined up pointing a bit left into the wind. I sat forward as I could and pinned the the flipper and never let off. Best run of the day. 91.35 mph. Nytro was 83.75 mph. There was a SRX Sidewinder with chisels every row and front shocks cabeled down. TD tune 300 hp he said with 3” Td exhaust. Best speed for him was 95.75. I was pretty happy with my speed and no tune just a power commander V and clutching and exhaust and Cai. 96 gold diggers up th e middle. I got to say that all blue srx was sharp

Awesome! Wind can be very frustrating when you turn bars and instantly see speed drop. Well done!
