I was checking out the competition last night and this made me laugh. Ski-Doo has a link on their home page explaining why 2-strokes are better than 4's. According to Ski-Doo their engines are:
1. More Fun
2. More Fuel efficent
3. Cleaner
4. Easier on your wallet
5. More durable
Yamaha must have these guys running scared. So much for truth in advertising.

The fifth point of being More durable is a joke. But I have heard the SDI is the same or have sometimes been better than the RX-1 at the pump. But, they are terrible on oil. My buddies 05 600 SDI burns 3 litres of oil to a tank of fuel. The dealer said there nothing to adjust on it. At $55.00 bucks CDN for a jug of oil, that's damn expensive. So that being easier on the wallet is also wrong. I'm surprised to see that their is not a 6th point, one for saying the two stroke mill is lighter than the 4 stroke mill. I wish someone would pull the two motors, the Mach Z and the new Apex mill and strip everything, including the exhaust and have just the two motors side by side to see what they weigh in at. I bet they are the same in weight or very close. That Mach Z motor is heavy.

My dad's rev 800 smokes up the whole trailer when he fires it up , I try to unload mine first so I don't have to deal with that . If I had to ride one of those I'd quit the sport .

I dont think they make a case on any of the five.

While all of them bring a chuckle, # 1 gets me the most. How do you quantify that?

Damn straight....I had 2 REV's last year...yeah they are fun to jump and stuff but relaible...hell no. Did I mention I had 2!!! Now I am back on a RX1.
My buddy has a 05'600 SDI. Alot of people don't realize that the SDI 2-TEC engine REQUIRES full synthetic oil. The stuff is big bucks! I've done the math.....I'll take the 4-stroke over the 2 anyday. Been there, done that.

I just went to Ski-Doo's website to check it out. Try using their fuel savings calculator...For their 1000 motor @ $2.00 USD per gallon at 2,000 miles per season @ 18 miles per gallon it says your sled compares pretty well with our SDI motor. NO KIDDING!!?

Someone should make a copy of this info. That way, when Ski Doo finally moves into the 4 stroke world, we can throw this back at them.

Last season on a local club outing there were two 600 SDI, one dropped a piston when he tried to run with the Yammis but nothing was cheeper at the pumps than the Vector, Nothing.

Yamaha has Johnny Skeptical,
it is only fair that SkiDoo takes a stab at comedy
