Snow Finally

Take lots of pictures. Would like to see how our sleds are put together. Good luck brother!

Yes please share as many pictures as possible. Im really sorry this happened but you weren't hurt which is the most important thing. How much is that subframe? How badly was it bent?

Well its not as easy a subframe removal as Phazer or Nytro thats for sure but the parts are cheap and should be good as new. Just waiting for parts. Hoping to have it back together for weekend. I got the Evo exhaust header back yesterday and made a bit richer PCV Map. Testing continues. More snow and Finally cold forecasted for here even. Need Ice. Hopefully this is the real start of winter!

Plans to address the bellcrank bushings while you are in there?

What is the bearing material in there? I would have though that someone would have a nice oilite setup by now for this? A little slop at the steering post is one thing, but the bellcrank moving is pretty bad.

wow nice snow would like to see it hear thank you for the post

Subframe was about $165 and A-arm was about $80. Rivets and selftappers needed were about $20. If I stayed off computer I would say I have about 5hrs into it. To get subframe out Bulkhead (sheetmetal in front) has to be removed. None of those had Loctite and seemed real light torque even for a self tapper.

It would be a pain to change. Cant lift it up high enough without hitting a crossmember riveted to bulkhead. Bushings are nylon or some type plastic. Hard to access probably reason no aftermarket.

So non serviceable AND plastic junk???

Could a guy at least push a good bushing up from below? I assume the bushings do not meet in the middle so the lower could be made longer?

Yes if you could get old one out. Dont you think much of the movement is up and down? I was thinking of putting a bushing inside and using a larger bolt. Will try grease fitting and see how that goes though. Grease does take up some space. Should help.

There is a lower and upper bushing with flange correct? Do they meet in the middle or is there a gap?

The lower should come right out. The upper could probably be pulled up a bit and trimmed shorter with a razor knife so that the lower could be lengthened even further. Need the flange to deal with thrust but in your case you could add a machine washer for the thrust and build a new bushing.

Is a 1/2in gap. They are in there pretty good the flange is going to break if you try pulling it out from bottom guaranteed. Its just the steering stem and 4 rivets holding that brace in. I am just adding the grease fitting and calling it a day. Actually I am very happy with the wear on all my bushings in this sled. Way better than all the previous sleds I have owned.

New subframe is in. Grease fitting in. Just odds and ends but now have to go to wife's work party. Also putting studs in since local river is now safe! Gonna be a long night. I did take a bunch of pics. Will do up a few how too posts later.
