So, should I buy a sidewinder??

I didn't say "inside" ski lift.
From every one of your posts I've seen you desire the ability to lift the skis when you want. And that's cool if it's what you're looking for but lifting the skis and transfer are not the same thing
Ok, you are right I want a wheelie machine, i forgot what I wanted....

I challenge anyone to make a 137 transfer.....it wont without serious change in rear mounting location.

There were a ton of us tried all the normal things, blocks removed all winter and strap lengthened longest...I guess it does not matter how many times I type this.
Take the shaft out too

What, few guys who did it last season here Dan. Don't know what your doing wrong, but they actually went back and had to add the shaft and blocks back in to get the skis back on the ground again as they found out they didn't like them hanging in the air as much as they thought they would.

Did you remove the blocks and shaft? Or just the blocks?

Nothing like any DOO IMO...Doos transfer hard, and what I like to have on tight system, then I dial it out when we hit hi speed railing trails...Im a very active suspension adjuster, might do it 5 times in half a day.....I never rode a 137 I likes better then a shorty. With these qs3r shocks, they all ride incredible.

The diff between 137 and 129 is only 1-1/2 blocks of track, so ride quality and handling is quite similar nowadays, we are not comparing 121s anymore. The HUGE difference is the transfer.(apparently)
I meant Doo like in ride quality not in transfer. And from my understanding there is a good amount of difference in ride quality between a 129&137 due to longer arms and arm mounting locations. Only time will tell to those who have owned and rode both. I have not so my info is only second hand information.

That's important. I've been criticized that I can't see the trees, nature, etc, while riding. I don't ride to see trees. I ride to enjoy the dynamics of a high performance vehicle!
With a set of Curve skis this sled will be "Dynamic" that i can promise you. And the sled rite out the box is "High Performance" that i can also promise you.

Yeah, I alw

Yeah, I always thought my 2012 Apex was "High Performance." Then, I grabbed a handful of throttle on the LTX-LE for the first time a year ago. I still remember that sensation very clearly. The farm field became very very short in very very short order. The sled was quiet as it accelerated so linear and smoothly like a rocket forcing me to hang on in disbelief and amazement. After I let up the throttle, I stopped and got off the sled, walked a couple of yards, looked back at the sled, thought to myself "what have I gotten myself into... this thing can't be legal!"

Then, I walked back to the sled, got on it, and hammered the throttle again because I was hooked!!!!

No regrets selling the Apex...

Dan does not want a wheelie machine, he just wants the front end "light" when he flicks the throttle at a bump to increase the ease to get over it & it's next 4000 brothers that are next in line. Transfer & quick motor spool up does this.
Sorry to speak for you Dan, but you seemed a little agitated so i stepped in.

I own a '07 Apex GT & '17 LTX-LE. I still love my Ape, but i always hated it on the stutters. There is no way to get rid of this with this rear skid. Kind of unfair to compare sleds 10 years apart.

To answer your question: YES, the Sidewinder is worth getting. It will make you feel young again. Plus, you are the Big Dog on the block.

lol I like your post Steve. I too am coming off an 07 Apex GT, which I really did like too.

Glad to hear that the Winder is so superior in almost every way. Very excited to ride it for the first time...from what I've been reading, I shouldn't be disappointed at all.

Does that mean you are picking me up on way to Maine. I got tired of making the trip by myself

It sounds like it should be a great sled...might take some tuning, especially skis. I'd be tempted to start out with curves though. Especially when we get that crunchy thin ice layer you break through and the sled tips, or grabs....the curves have never allowed that, as they are pretty wide up front and in back.
I already have a new set of pilot 6.9"s bolted on, have installed HyGear linkage and fox 1.5 coil rear shock and dual rate spring for center shock. dual presure for the front shocks and am pulling the trigger on Hurricane 240 HP Race tune. when the snow comes down we will see how she goes.

That's always good...I've had stock sleds that sure make you feel old! Plus, I'm pretty sure I've gone as far as I want to with the apex. But it stays in the family. It has been great.

Take a side trip to tug hill for suspension testing! Maybe someday I'll find all the pieces we've lost from 40 years of riding the area. Still looking for my 73 skiroule rtx 447 torsion spring! Lol!

I think so. My wife is not opposed, but she wants to spend the same on stuff for her...LOL! my son in law will buy the vector, and my son would get the apex, but he lives on our land so it'll be here. I sat on some in a dealership last week, but need to resolve colors and track length.

What about skidplates? I'm not sump buster for no reason, cracking the sump cover and blowing the engine on a brand new 2003 RX1. The bottom ends were vulnerable to belly hits. Glanced off a buried log under the snow. The cat chassis looks pretty tough under there, and sits a lot higher.
