So, should I buy a sidewinder??

Sumpbuster, when you come right down to it..the 137 has about 4 or 5 more inches of track on the ground. If that is gonna make that much more difference in ride...then by all means go that route. I don't think there will be that much difference in ride quality, but there will be a big difference in transfer and nimbleness with the shorter 129, but that's just my opinion.
I tend to agree. I want it to be able to pivot too, since the oversteer like dirt tracking, is what I like, when I want it.

I don't get it either. The thing I'm happiest about with the SideWinder is the fact it will keep the inside ski down in a corner and keep the ski lift to a min under power without loosing ride quality. I tried in vain for years to get this on my turbo 1200 and could never get it where I was happy with the ride quality and lessened ski lift together.

I think people are so used to the way the Doo's work they think that's the way it should or needs to be. I want my skis on the ground and in control of the machine myself too.

If you like the pulling the skis all the time just get rid of the transfer blocks and shaft and loosen the limiter. It's pretty easy to make it a wheelie machine if that's what you prefer.
True, you can't get around a corner with the front up. I do like transfer that lifts the front, as in a bad hole or washout that wasn't seen, and I'm going too fast....that's when I accelerate so the track takes the brunt instead of piling in with the front, going over the handlebars! That never feels good...

I always said buy a new sled was a waste of money
When from a SRX to a 2010 Apex and loved the Apex
Then this damn sidewinder was announced
Spring checked one and Holy $hit did I enjoy it last year!
No regrets here the sled can always keep me smiling on a long day of riding
;)!

I agree, I kind of got into a rut with my 1200 Doo's. Even though I liked them I was looking forward to riding the trails instead of riding my sled. Now I look forward to riding my sled again.
That's important. I've been criticized that I can't see the trees, nature, etc, while riding. I don't ride to see trees. I ride to enjoy the dynamics of a high performance vehicle!

For years the engineers have been working on getting rid of transfer and keeping the ski's on the ground. Now there are some who like the ski's in the air. I'm just glad we have options. I know I can ride faster with my ski's on the ground and not in the air. Then again I'm an old guy who put puts down the trails ticking off all the snocross guys.:sled1:
I call them the standuppers. Sorta defeats the purpose of a low center of gravity!!
On the stutters that the apex shreds, there's plenty of time to wave with one hand as the tach approaches 11,000 rpm!

The more Apex guy's that comment on the Sidewinder the more relived I get on buying mine. I'm undecided on what to do with my Attack? It has a ton of mods and upgrades and I've meticulously maintained it. But with 16,500 miles what's it worth here in North East Pa. There's a local grass drag next Sat. that I'll put her out for sale in the swap meet for $3,500 and see what happens. I don't need to sell her cause she's not costing me anything. With my attachment and all the memories on that sled I don't know if I even could part with her!

North East PA? Your not far from me. I'm in Chautauqua County NY. That's where I do most of my riding other than Ontario and Quebec.

I know everybody's situation is different, but I kept my Attak because I thought the sled had more value to pass to my kids than the $3-4k I might have gotten for it. I've sold cars in the past that I built the motors for and put allot of sweat and blood into and kicked myself for doing so with what little money they returned. It's hard to put a price on sentimental value.

Agreed, the best race setups I ever had lifted the skis a couple inches and shot the sled out of the hole. On the trail there have been a couple scenarios where I wanted a little more lift but they were few and far between. The LTX is as good as it gets for on trail handling as far as I'm concerned. If I was an off trail rider I'd definitely go with the XTX or bigger. Can't really think of a scenario that I'd want the RTX but that's just me.....we're all different in what we like.

Looking forward to hearing your real world experience going from 137-129. I like the way the 137 rides it's almost Doo like. But agree lack of transfer is a downer. Looking forward to hearing ride quality 129-137 as many have said 137 is a lot closer to Doo in ride vs 129.
Nothing like any DOO IMO...Doos transfer hard, and what I like to have on tight system, then I dial it out when we hit hi speed railing trails...Im a very active suspension adjuster, might do it 5 times in half a day.....I never rode a 137 I likes better then a shorty. With these qs3r shocks, they all ride incredible.

The diff between 137 and 129 is only 1-1/2 blocks of track, so ride quality and handling is quite similar nowadays, we are not comparing 121s anymore. The HUGE difference is the transfer.(apparently)

I challenge anyone to make a 137 transfer.....it wont without serious change in rear mounting location.

There were a ton of us tried all the normal things, blocks removed all winter and strap lengthened longest...I guess it does not matter how many times I type this.

The more times you type it the more I realize you confuse transfer with ski lift

I didn't say "inside" ski lift.
From every one of your posts I've seen you desire the ability to lift the skis when you want. And that's cool if it's what you're looking for but lifting the skis and transfer are not the same thing
