Stage 2 240hp pump gas kit
The 'claim' is 131 in 1320' with a PUMP GAS (91-94 octane) TRAIL viper....YET, for how many years now (4 or 5?) none of the 280-300hp CATS have done more than 125? Yeah, ok.
They had to give the turbo cats their very own class so they can run METH and or RACE FUEL just to get TRAIL sled speeds over 120mph in 1320!!! 300hp!!!!!
okie dokie.
My buddy rented a ac 5000 last week he said he could only get 83 out of it ! I had to pick it up for him and took it a half mile to the hotel and what a pooch ! Just had no get up and go !
Well dont race one across a lake cause you may just see one pass you.

I think were missing something. these are trail sleds. everything about them says trail. I think if speed is your main concern you may have bought the wrong sled my clutched stock otherwise viper is very fast from 0-70 mph. most important for trail riding. I may get passed on the lake by the 800 but they cant even come close in the woods. I beleve these are a purpose built machine and are outstanding for there intended purpose. If top speed is your only concern look elsewhere if you want a great trail sled enjoy your viper. Sorry but getting sick of the bashing of these great trail sleds.

I agree 100%, but a sled at 180-200hp turbod or super should easily do 120mph imo. Especially with all the knowledge on the forum here! Theres something we just havent figured out yet..

Other than clutching the biggest thing I found is track tension. The recomended tension is wayyyyyy too tight. With 2 vipers in our group I was able to gain 7mph on my buddy by simply loosening the track untill it hangs 2 in with no weight on rtx. loosend his track with same result. I have no problem hitting 98-100mph in anything but loose snow. Also these sleds seem to tighten the track under compression and not allow the front arm to uncouple as designed when they transfer weight on to the rear of the skid.

No one said speed is main concern. But 85 ish mph is just not right for a sled at this price point. I think people were expecting the speed of a nytro or vector ( trail sled) not a AC5000. That's the issue. Especially in Canada . This machine cost me$14000 befor tax. A nytro is about $10000. Wouldn't you be a little upset. I new it wasn't an apex contender but similar in its price range would be fair. It is about $500 less than an apex.

You guys realize a ac5000 is a 1100 non turbo right? Not a 800 and not a turbo. My Phazer could run with one up to about 70 easy!

Yup might as well just buy a turbo cat not as fast on pump as an apex or 270hp nytro but race fuel is a different story they run really well and the belt problems are pretty much gone now and they got parts now that can fix it for under $1500!!!!

Why don't you guys in the US just flip your gauges to KPH, you'll see 140-145.
Maybe the guy on HCS was in KPH and didn't know.

Well for 14000$ I paid last year in Canada for a sled sold for 135hp and we are in 2015. We should expect better top speed. Everybody know they are not a lake racer, but it still should run faster than they are. We almost everyone own a Nytro before the Viper, and seriously on the lake, my Nytro RTX SE with the 1.25 ripsaw track was at least 20km/h GPS faster than my Viper XTX. Even with the Backcountry track it was 10 km/h faster on groomed trails, and this is 5 years ago. I don't know were we are going in the performance department!??

O and he blew a belt on it and it only had 1800 miles on it so not sure they fixed the belt issue yet.Yup might as well just buy a turbo cat not as fast on pump as an apex or 270hp nytro but race fuel is a different story they run really well and the belt problems are pretty much gone now and they got parts now that can fix it for under $1500!!!!
9000 and Apex have one issue in common that prevents me from even considering them. They are front heavy. Nytro also. So we have to get these Vipers rocking at least as fast as a good nytro xtx.

1800 miles on a boosted sled is more than fair my nytro 330hp was only good for 1000 to 1500 miles so 1800 I could live with!O and he blew a belt on it and it only had 1800 miles on it so not sure they fixed the belt issue yet.
