**studding warning **

Ok this is what I have come up with as far as a pattern staying out of the center 3.5. Thoughts? And will this work ok?

You've only got 4 scratch lines. Not optimal. You sure you want to use plastic?

I bought the fast trac studs and the owner said they work great! I will give them a try if they suck I guess lesson learned. There is 45 sections on the 129 so I did 5 pattern 9 times. Not a lot of room if you stay out of the middle 3.5. I'm open to suggestions.

Hard to tell from the pic, but he's got 10 scratch line on the inside alone. Looks like about 4 on each of the outsides. So that would be 18 scratch lines. Still not optimal. I'm curious did he measure 3.5 inches between the backer plate, or the holes where the studs would be? Looks like there more room for a few more scratch lines towards the middle, even leaving 3.5 inches of clearance.

I did a v pattern starting wide and going in so there should be 20 different lines. Don't think there is enough room for a 9 line pattern. Someone was making templates for studs and I would be interested in buying one with as many lines as possible and staying out of the center 3.5. My studs are fast trac 1.50. Also I did 3.5 from the holes. You have about 2 .20 from the edge on each side.

You will like those backers hold up very well.

Has anyone done 135 studs in a 129" track?
If so what pattern

i tried those plastic backers back on 06 on my 1k sdi gade .they didn't last very long .

i'm running 144 1.45 and i spaced the centers at 1 1/4"for a total of 2.5 " .i have 100 miles on the sled now with no issues .the 1.45" studs measure 1/4 " above the track lug .

Is there any benefit to driving the sled a little and stretching the track out before studding?
yes/no but make sure you retighten them after the first 80+ miles

Anyone know the absolute minimum edge distance from track window or track edge to the center of the stud?? Guessing it is about an inch but the stud manufacturers don't seem to publish this. Obviously the closer to the edge there would be more chance of a tear-out. I want to place studs as far away from center line as possible.....

Does anyone have the exact measurments of the louvers we need to stay out of is it safe going 3.5" on hole for studs or should we push out to 4" I have my pattern for 4" from 2000srx vendor here but if possible I'd like to push it in too 3.5" and get a few more scratch line i have a picture of the pattern but the file is too large

I relied on the 3.5" from others...so I used up to #5....probably could have gone to #6 ...but didnt push it...figure I can always add more later if desired

Lots of differences in the material the plastic backers are made of. I used the fast trac on my apex and with 18,000 lower Michigan "snirt" miles and they are all still in great shape and none broken. The studs are worn pretty good.... but the backers are still in great shape. I also think they allow the track to flex without digging into the rubber like the metal ones do and keeps the track from ripping and stud from pulling trough. My 2 cents:D
