Studs

I'm still trying to decide how many, how long, pattern, which backers & brand. I feel like i got sent to the store to get "feminine products"! I don't want to get the wrong ones or i could get in trouble...so i'm watching this post CLOSELY....for stud info not feminine hygiene advice

Thinking of just going with the "Full Power Performance" Full tunnel protectors for the Sidewinder. Protects the whole tunnel(front and back) and then no worries either way with 1.450's or even the next size up stud.

I look on their website, but can't seem to find them? Anybody know if they are listed on there? Or if you have to call them directly to order them?

Not a fan of covering the cooler rails....these things need all the help they can get when trying to keep them cool on marginal days....I have seen no issues with the normal RECOMMENDED protectors out back, if there was poor tunnel clearance on these chassies noone would be able to run these massively long studs. 1.450s will be fine without touching.

That's a good point...but in the picture on the previous page..it doesn't look like all that much of the heat exchanger is covered up(a LIL bit on each side doesn't seem like all that much?? But perhaps that would make a difference?? I don't know?? Something to consider I suppose?? I'll think it over a bit longer before I decide??

129" RTX w/2.86 pitch has 45 bars(129/2.86=45.10) and will either be 136 or 134 total(depending on where you start layout of 4-2-4-2) or 180 total(4 per bar) for typical patterns, also can use doubles....

I like my gold diggers for many many yrs....1.450 is a good length for overall trail riding IMO, and wont hit the vents.

I like this Stud Boy template. Part #2563-00

Other goodies showed up from CB performance.

Anyone considering the Woodys 7 degree angled double backers ?

You can put a 12" adjustable wrench on the studs and bend them by hand if you want without any angled backers, we did this all the time on the drag sleds. But be warned, it won't stop well if you angle the studs to accelerate that way.

There’s quality info as that was only thing I wasn’t sure of for my stuffing. Straight doubles or angled. Lol. I am was pretty set on studboy 1.375... but been considering 1.5... however being mostly trail riding I like idea of the lower maintainance 375’s as they won’t bend or break as often.

Hello Gents
Has anyone tried the stud boy super light backers that look like an actual track lug? Just wondering the reviews as they are super expensive but dealer swears by them.

I wouldnt mess with gimmicks like those on a sidewinder. They are a pain in the #*$&@ to install, more expensive and not as durable as a regular aluminum backer and nut. Basically there is no positive reason to buy them, just negatives. They dont do anything better.

I went with studboy 1.375". I originally bought the 1.5" and got all caught up in the louver b.s. so sent them back to supplier. They were so cool about it.

1.375" on a 1.25" track are basically for safety only. But also think between them and 1.5" not much would change. Nothing drastically!

You have obviously never tried them and should not be commenting on them until you do. There's a reason they are going on my 280 HP sidewinder, and they wouldn't be going on if there was no positives about them!

I flogged them on my Turbo 1200 Doo for thousands of miles with no issues whatsoever. They are lighter, easier to install over using std double backers and nuts with square shank Megabites, hookup is better on snow with them along with being lighter. That is all a positive!

If they were any negatives with them, you wouldn't see them on virtually every single winning snow cross sled on the track! They are a game changer in snow! You either run them or get beat by the guys running them!
