have an 06 attak gt. have the suspension out. i am not familiar with this suspension since its my first yamaha
i have a few questions ill start with a couple first
1- while sitting on bench if i pull it up and drop it will bang from start to end point on the transfer rod. this does not seem normal to me. seems when out it should be up and stay. my collar is adjusted up halfway already(is spring junk ? or do i keep adjusting till suspension comes up?)

2-i have the electronic shock =is there an ohm reading i can check for the pins in the connector.

To answer #1 that is normal, when suspension is out of the sled it will collapse as if something is wrong.
Also I would adjust the spring to spec/your weight, don’t just tighten the spring to what ever.

ok well good to know its not broke so yea i was checking that thread on ride height adjustment on FAQ looks very easy to perform. my question also is though they keep mentioning clicks? is one click equal to one thread on the shock collar adjuster?

i also see a plastic twist knob in line at rear of shock. what is that?

That’s rebound adjuster. If it doesn’t click when turned Shock is blown and needs a rebuild. $30

No.. clicks are not the same as turning the shock collar.

On your GT you adjust the compression from the speedo gauge/handle bars unlike some other shocks which have a knob on the shock body.

ok yea i was thinking that might have been the case . were people talking about same thing but with diff set ups. so that transfer rod, does it need to be pumped full of grease? or packed? doesnt seem like it does much . it does come apart i think per the parts diagram. just seems to loose to me and i heard there's grease in there. would think some would transfer to shaft as it moves

Just take it apart, clean the inside and lube it up some but do not fill it with grease..

You will probably get a bit of dirty water coming out of it when you take it apart as water seeps in over time..

That transfer rod actually does a lot to the rear suspension regarding ride comfort/handling, less transfer will give you a more comfortable ride but you will have more weight on the skis and more track spin, more transfer will give you lighter steering less track spin but you will loose some suspension travel so it’s best to make small adjustments and fine tune it to your liking..

yea thats where i get lost . the adjustment . i do have a manual . its pretty vague though. im just guessing that id adjust the top shock first and ? maybe set transfer rod in middle when loaded?

After you get 'er back in the sled I'd do this adjustment first: https://ty4stroke.com/threads/apex-mono-shock-set-up-procedure.151378/
Don't skip through it; measure and adjust per the procedure.

If you're not sure on the transfer you want set the transfer rod mid-position and see how she goes. I ride 100% groomed trails and have mine adjusted to keep the skis planted. See this post for a great description and picture of the adjustment tool. https://ty4stroke.com/threads/transfer-rod-adjustment.131281/#post-1178831

After doing this once I've never felt the need to adjust a darn thing. I leave my shock rebound set mid-point and love it.

so unfortunately all the bogies are toast. new ones ordered. im gonna ask again this question though. (this is before i took out) if i have sled resting no rider and pull up on rear bumper should is stay up? cause mine just drops 3 inches right away. like a loose spot . seems to me that any significant bumps will be pretty bad like this. is this the sign of a worn mono shock spring? (i have the elect mono shock). this does not seem normal or will the adjustment procedure take up this slack. cause it says measure loaded and un loaded. technically i would need someone to lift rear bumper a little to get my first reading. then let go and then sit on seat.

Yes a little sag is normal on the mono, 3” might be a bit much though.

lift the rear completely off the ground any take measurement of the spring and again with you sitting on the sled and see if it’s within spec.

Maybe the previous owner back off the spring.

How much do you weight? The original mono spring is only good for a certain weight.

batt is just age. the rest is a normal check for most apex owners every pre season.

You will be fine with your weight and that spring.
When you put it back together set the transfer rod in the stock position and set the suspension sag with you on the sled and take it from there as you said.
Do you have the measurements for the ohlins shock to set proper rider sag ?
Also consider snow trackers, you will be amazed how the sled will handle and they last for years.
