It's not all that tough of a job. I had done 2 stroke top ends but never touched a 4 stroke. I don't like anyone touching my sled so tackled it myself. Like Doc mentioned there's a great couple videos on SXS blog showing tear down and rebuild on a 998 yxz engine. I may have even posted a link in my stage 6 build thread.

I'll give it a shot when things start to warm up.I've fixed 998s that run "only" about 14-15 psi boost where I could tell head wasn't sealed completely. IMO, knowing what I know now, I'd say head studs on anything above 12-13 lbs boost. Stock torque-to-yield head bolts just don't provide enough clamp force for me. But, ARP head studs do.
I have to laugh! The timing mark setup is exactly like my 150cc scooter.
I'll double check that thread. Thanks, DMCIt's not all that tough of a job. I had done 2 stroke top ends but never touched a 4 stroke. I don't like anyone touching my sled so tackled it myself. Thanks, everyone
I'll get to work on this in the off-season. I suppose ill look into getting the head O-ring'd. Small amount to pay, just in case I decide to turn things up.
But, I really need to start riding more then anything. Lol.

No, everything is fine. I'd consider it preventative maintenance for future upgrades.
Just trying to find other ways to enjoy the sport that continues to disappoint. Haha.
Or as TF stated; "Fix it till it's broke"
Besides, Trump's sending us all $5,000ea.
Why not start spending it b4 it gets here?!
(JOKE!!)

If it's a normal STM they rattle like a bucket of bolts, worse than a Yamaha primary.

Does Tapp rattle like the rest ? Iam sure there must be some way to reengineer that rattle out . Its only annoying at idle and if your wearing ear plugs Iam sure its non- issue ? It sure sounds like there is problems even know there really is not any that Iam aware of ….If it's a normal STM they rattle like a bucket of bolts, worse than a Yamaha primary.

No, the button TAPP does not rattle at idle, it does rattle just a bit in the 4500 RPM range after it's been run for some time, but nothing like the Yamaha primary does.
The TAPP roller spider clutch setup does rattle with the added clearances needed for the towers and the roller setup.

When the TAPP starts to rattle, it is time for a rebuild.

For the life of me i can NOT get my gap flasher to connect to 2 different android phones. Tried every reset i could. Uninstalled app and installed, all permissions turned on, location on. wifi on and off. It only only saw the device 1 time but never would connect. Dave is telling me the apple phones work much better for this??
