TD mod stock mufflers - Power but quiet?

Stock inlet into bigger outlet wont give you any gains as the exhaust can only flow as well as its smallest passage. May change the tone but flow will still equal that of a 2” muffler
So you’re saying my D&D modified stock muffler with 3” outlet but stock from turbo to muffler doesn’t flow well?

Well I dont have a flow bench to test but air or liquids can only flow as good as there smallest orfice. Blow through a straw and then add a piece of 1/2” hose to the end of the straw and try again……..same amount of air. Only way IMO to improve flow using stock inlet is if the muffler cant utilize the max flow its capable of with 2” inlet because of other restrictions inside the muffler that choke it. If you remove or modify those then at best you can have max flow a 2” pipe is capable of, doesnt matter if you have a 8” outlet. So basically its possible the 2” muffler can be improved to flow like a true 2” muffler.

I have order the 3" mod stock muffler from Turbo Dynamics.. ;)!

Makes sense to me. I might have to break down and buy an expensive stock mod muffler now. Thanks a lot Justinator!!!

Yes….is this the $600 or $650 dollar one? They’re not cheap.

Yes it's not cheap. And I need it shipping to Sweden..
:drink:

Power but quiet as possible, I'm to old for loud mufflers. When people like TD develop new quiet performance mufflers I will help them and buy.

What about rjwc? Have you run any of their mufflers being from Sweden?
They seem to make nice quality mufflers.

TIKKA PPC POWER
Have you ever dealt with these guys?
They had some interesting looking weights a couple of years back but I dont think they have imported them to the U.S. yet.

Cannot speak about about mod stock mufflers on 998's but I have one on my 1100. I put it on when I boosted the sled to 240HP . According to the manufacturer it was one decibel louder than stock. I cannot tell the difference and the sled dynoed right at 240hp as they advertised. When I boosted the sled the further with a mod stock turbo wheel, that muffler supported 300hp on the dyno on pump gas ( with octane boost ). I suspect the results will be the same on the 998. I also suspect in the past, the tuners found it easier to create "boost/HP" software with less back pressure from a straight pipe or open flow muffler. Now a days, we all need to make quiet horsepower on the trails for the good of the sport. I have no doubt the tuners can create boost/HP with quiet better flowing mufflers. By the way, it took a lot of screwing around to get the bottom end of my fuel curve worked out on my 300HP sled. It ran pig rich until I was able to dial the fuel back. Running a straight pipe would be easier to tune with no back pressure. I am not a computer programmer but I wanted Max HP and quiet at the same time. If my modify my 2022 Tcat after break in, I am sure it will only require a flash and a quiet bolt on muffler. LOL

RJWC is out of snowmobile buisness since last year. I don't why but no mufflers from RJWC. Maptun in Sweden use Feritta now but that quit muffler runs hot and is way louder.
