Hey guys. Would like some input here. I ordered a temperature guage and adapter on Amazon. Its a 26mm adapter. Just a question where I put that adapter. On which hose is the best? I have a 2006 apex GT

I put it on the hose going from the block to the bottom of the thermostat.

You can just pinch the hoses above and below where you want to cut so you don’t have to drain the antifreeze. I bought some pinch tools at Princess Auto that work great but you can also use needle nose vide grips, just be gentle. If you are using a mechanical gauge it needs to be mounted on the handle bars. If it’s mounted at the factory gauge you won’t be able to disconnect it to remove the headlight pod. If it’s an electric gauge you can just unplug it.

The first picture is different than the second pic you sent. Looks like the first one is horizontal by the valve cover, and the second one is the vertical hose beside the oil tank.. im a little confused as that is 2 different locations you are referring to.. hmm, sorryThis is my setup it works very well. Made my own bracket for the handlebar.

Sorry I couldn’t rotate the pics.

You are seeing two different installs from two different members. First pic is from gitrdun shows an Ulmer Racing temp setup the 2nd is from 72GranThe first picture is different than the second pic you sent. It works in either location, I just installed it where it was easier to access downstream of the thermostat.

I like pulling it right out of the head (horizontal) as that is the warmest, vs going through the T-stat and mounting it vertically. JMO

I put mine in the vertical hose and right at 68F is when the warning light turns off before moving forward from a cold start. Same as in my Sidewinder. Seems to be very accurate in this position contrary to what some say or assume.

I have 83000kms on the vertical setup it flat out works and is much easier to install. If you watch the gauge you can determine when the temp starts to rise and then deploy your scratchers. With this setup my last set of sliders have 23000kms.
