Ok thanks! I'll give lonn a call this week. Thanks for the help!
You betcha
We are here for ya, any questions you have...just ask here. If it is something I/we can't answer, I can put a call in to Lonn right away. Lonn is great to talk to and the more I talk to him...the more informed I get.
Yesterday, Lonn and I talked on the phone and he asked about my airdam on my asphalt raced SRX. Lonn said "Google this number and see what pops up". I punched in the number 5,427,430 and a patent number came up. Lonn had a patent out for the airdam for asphalt sleds in 1993! Amazing guy and a wealth of knowledge

I'm thinking of trying this clutch kit but have a few questions about adjusting tip weight. Does the weight need to be removed from the clutch in order to change the gram washers and bolts or can it be achieved with the Allen bolts inserted into the weight. Little changes in top rpm is what I would like to adjust without removing the weight (arm) from the clutch.
Good Morning Pstn head
Sorry to say, but the weight will need to be removed in order to change the middle or tip. The heel of the weight can be changed without removal (allen screws).
But here is a good part, Lonn sends along in his kit a clutch holding tool that keeps/holds the clutch sheaves together so you can take the weights out easily for adjustment....I do this right out on the trail for testing. Along in his kit, Lonn explains in great detail how to adjust your weights to get the best out of the kit (when needed). The kit will come to you already assembled, but Lonn sends all the hardware so you can modify or change if you want. His instructions are very clear and narrows it right down

I know Lonn at Thunder Products has mentioned this to everyone who either bought a Thunder Products 911 cover or a Big Venom Kit.....but just mentioning it for the newbies that if they order a Big Venom kit or 911 cover, they can also get a Carbon Fiber Gates belt for $99

Thanks NOS-PRO, sounds easy with the clutch tool holding the sheaves together in order to fine tune the weights, and all the info that comes with the kit, I'm going to have to get me a kit sounds like a performer.

So I went ahead and called Lonn today and ordered a clutch kit and a belt that he recommended. I chatted for maybe 15 minutes and found him to be friendly and helpful. I can't wait to get it installed! Thanks for your advice. I'd never heard of him until a few weeks ago but you've done a great job getting the word out. When you call, Lonn will set you up on which belt you want to use. You can use the stock belt. The 8DN belt will last longer and be more consistent where the 8JP belt likes to wear fast. You will probably start hitting the rev limiter more and more....the more miles you put on the 8JP (stock) belt. But, the nice thing with this kit is it is fully adjustable and with couple tools, you can adjust your weights and not hit the rev limiter. The weights will come assembled to you and all you have to do is put the weights in and there is a manual that is very clear on how to adjust the weights if the need comes around. Here is the best part, We are here to help you at anytime if you need answers
The 911 cover provides strength to the clutch towers and has an adjustment dial to bring in the primary sheave closer to the belt so the belt doesn't get slammed upon engagement. Is the 911 cover needed for the Big Venom kit? No, but it sure is a nice unit with a long lasting bearing bushing that will not only make your clutch stronger, move more freely and can handle way more rpm's than the stock cover, but the dial adjustment will make your belts last longer.

I think these would work, but this is my guess. Call Lonn at Thunder Products and see what he recommends. Tell him I told you to call....he might give you a deal on something to test.

HHY-68 for the MCX 270 turbo kit?
Talked to Lonn yesterday and the main thing is if the weight is light enough (which us 3 (Shagman, Lonn and myself) think it will be if you are close to 270hpr).

Called Lonn yesterday and ordered the venom kit along with the gates carbon fiber belt. I believe it is the 8DN equivalent. So i assume i still have to shim the secondary to accomdate the belt? Forgot to ask if this was included in the kit. Also, am i able to buy the cheap regular 8DN for a spare? or does it not sit the same as the gates?

Yes, you can use the 8DN for a spare. The only difference I see is the Gates belt grabs better so your rpm's will be a tad lower (like 150 rpm's) with the Gates belt compared to the 8DN.
For the secondary so you have the correct belt deflection, take off your secondary and on the backside of the clutch, there are 3 bolts with an 8mm head. Remove these bolts. You will notice each one of these bolts will have 1 washer on each of the bolts. Find 3 more washers about the same thickness (from a hardware store) and put 1 washer on each of the bolts for a combined total of 2 washers on each of the bolts. This extra washer allows the secondary sheaves to come together closer so you have the correct belt deflection. Lonn is going to have some washers made up sometime soon as he has had many calls for the Gates (8DN equivelent) belt.
Hope this helps

Friend of mine posted a video on FB where his stock viper went over 72mph in 450feet at a grass drag with the Big Venom Viper kit. Video shows the sled carrying the skis the whole run.

I thought the 3 8mm bolts got taken out and LEFT OUT. Or is that ONLY when the OSP adjuster is used ?Yes, you can use the 8DN for a spare. The only difference I see is the Gates belt grabs better so your rpm's will be a tad lower (like 150 rpm's) with the Gates belt compared to the 8DN.

I suggest to do that when the OSP adjuster is used. If you take them out without an adjuster, the sheaves can rub together and someone posted here that their sheaves were rubbed together so bad the sheaves almost seized to each other.
