Thunder Products (Big Venom Viper kit) with Heavy Hitters

No not turbo . Just filter kit with fuel programmer . What do you recommend . No snow yet to test sled out.and a sandale muffler

Hmmmm, had my son weigh mine this morning and my weights are 56.0 grams each. Should be anywhere from 54-56.

Were your weights in the Big Venom Kit ordered ? Or were these ordered separately?

No my weights I had from previous sled . Ran them on my turbo rx1 for years . 48 gram base weights . I just ordered the spring and glide washers from Lonn .he gave me a base setup but I think it's to heavy . Maybe he thought it was going on turbo sled . Don't know . I can call lonn, he's good guy and willing to help . What was your weight setup on your viper . Thanks for helping . Appreciate it . If you can put a picture of your weight setup that would be nice

First post here and new on the snow!
I want to order a Big venom viper kit ...
English is not my first language so not easy to talk/explain on the phone with someone.
I know nothing about clutch setup...I'm more a dirt guy (motocross and enduro/GNCC race style)
But i'll think that i have the skill and understanding of the mechanics

So, is it a ''plug n play'' kit or had to adjust something to work properly?

It's for a brand new leftover 2015 LTX

Thank!

Just found my problem . The weights I have are the 58 gram weights . In the box with the instructions the orange papers it says 48.8 grams . Keep in mind I bought these years ago from Turk for my turbo sled . So I couldn't remember the weight as they were already set up heavy for my turbo sled . So I ordered the spring and glide washers thinking I could make my own kit . Do you think the 58 weight will work empty . No snow to check yet though . It would only be 2 grams off . Thanks

Awesome! Great having you here! :)

The kit comes extremely close to the type of riding you do and the elevation you are at. But the nice thing about this kit is it is so easy to adjust and can really fine tune to your liking :)

Thunder Products has a very well described manual in their kit that will explain how to change the hardware included with your kit and where to change the weight. Best part of this kit is if you make a change to your sled (airbox mod, performance flash, engine upgrades (to an extent of still being naturally aspirated), header and/or silencer....you can use the same kit with just a little changing of the gram washers and/or bolts.

Plus you have all of us here to help you out with clutching or any other question you have for your sled :)

Yeah, I did the same thing fern, had some heavy hitters weights that I bought long time ago from someone who (later I found out) had a turbo RX1.

Yup, the kit is based around the 48 gram weights, but for the turbo viper guys like Shag....those weights would work. If you would decide to use those weights, you could go with a stiffer primary spring, put 1 inch of allen screws in the base (1/4" buried all the way in with the 3/4" followed right behind it and loctited in) but would need to have a setup figured out for the middle and the tip. Concentrate on the tip mostly when you are using a stiffer primary spring. That's if you wanted to use those weights. Maybe some turbo guys could purchase these off of you.......

I was wondering why the difference was so much on your weights

Question for NOS and Lonn, now that we are hearing the "new" engine has a few more ponies, are the weight set ups Lonn provided in his kits going to work just fine.

Yes they will BFS, same setup as mentioned from Lonn. :)

Another ''very'' newbie question ...
I don't know my type of riding yet !

I think not like riding on lakes/straights at over 100mph or maybe once in a while with some guys with apex.
I would love better ride the trails and go fast between two corners....

So what's my type of riding?

thanks nos ,what spring do you think i should try .i have the weights so i might as well try them unless some viper turbo guy wants to buy them .

Will this Big Venom kit work with the 8jp belt? I have 1500 on and have another spare that I bought when I picked up sled. Stock I seen the speedo hit 99 once which ain't bad, but I don't like the jerky takeoffs. (Now have k&n filters, Ulmers can, and fuel controller)

Thanks NOS!

I would say your riding style is a fun trail rider :) You like to be aggressive between corner to corner but not aggressive to the point where you aren't safe.

This kit will work great for you as it has a ton of pull throughout the range, awesome hook up from the start or coming out of a corner and still manage to pull 100mph (in good conditions) on the lake with your buds. Best part of the kit is the engagement for crawling over deep snow, crossing roads, pulling up to the gas pump or loading in/out of a trailer.

Here is a video of me playing in deep snow when testing the Big Venom kit. The sled just crawls over the deep snow because of the low engagement, but I can stand it up anytime to keep the front end high. The backshift is perfect and really does an amazing job on the trail

If I was going to try this....I think an Orang/Pink/Orange or a Green/White/Green primary. Put the 1/4 allen deep in the heel and then a 3/4" allen loctited right behind it. This will give you 1 full inch of allen for heel weight. I would put a 3/8 aluminum in the middle with 1 thick washer and then put a 3/8 steel in the tip and go from there. Engagement should be around 3,000 (This setup is for RX1 fern to try with his 58 gram Thunder Products heavy hitter weights)

Nice video brother! Is this in the UP? Looks like a nice engaging clutch. I'm impressed how easy it is for you to lift the front end!
