Well my RX1 and 2 place trailer was ripped off a week and a half ago and looking at some used sleds. Have fairly new Blue Yamaha gear so was trying to get a Blue or Black sled, next time buying black gear. I found a 2009 Apex with 2200 miles, red 121" for 5300 and a 2010 Apex LTX White/blue with 2400 miles for 5k however not sure I want a 136" skid in lower Michigan and 1 car garage with two other RX1s will make it tight in there. I have been looking on this forum for issues, Having owned my RX1s for over 10 years I know all the weak spots on those by the back of my hand. Feedback?

Its a personal preference, the longer track does help in certain situations, but it can also lack in certain situations. If you dont have experience with a longer track sled, id stick with what you know. Having put a few thousand miles on an rx-1 and jumping up to the Apex, sorry to say but the rx1 blows... no comparison. If you were happy with your RX you will be more happy with an Apex.

Unrelated but my buddy has had shorties (pol) his whole life and recently picked up a 136" pol, he likes how it takes bumps better but the tighter Lower MI trails we ride 99.9% of the time make him wish hed stayed with a shorty...

Just my opinion...

I ride an Attak[136"] and would definitely recommend the longer track sled.
Also, the 2010s have all the updates that Yamaha eventually did from issues on the original Apexs:
2010:
-stainless steel exhaust headers
-extra exhaust system brace
-updated chaincase and cover
-heavier drive shaft
-more accurate speedometer
ect

if you can go to a 12 or newer , with the power steering , and the XTX , it is the best when properly updated !!
Mine with the star , WRP seat , riser , hyfax saver kit , 13mm stabilizer bar , is great , and so much better than my 06 GT .
BUT ......... My 2015 Apex XTX , that I love so much , may be for sale on March 2nd !
ALTHOUGH that headlight teaser looks a little like it came fro TRF !

Here are my choices. I can get the 2009 for 5k and the 2010 he is firm on 5k. I also like this 2007 but a long drive to go fetch. Really only want to spend max 5k since we have a short season anymore. I could buy a 2016 SR Viper RTX DX from Hackers for 10k out the door if I wanted to but just really don't see me spending that much. Besides I like the four cylinder.

ltx forsure!!

Too bad you can't find an 2011 Apex Se 128. I think you would luv that sled in the tight stuff with eps!

The 2011 Yamahas and newer are a totally different sled than the older models. They include Power Steering, xup exhaust, and in general have a totally different feel than the 2010 and older.
They are all good sleds, but my 2011 is so much nicer than my 2007 Atak gt was. My buddy bought my attak gt so we were able to trade off rides, and what a difference. Plus, the 2011 is faster.
My sled is for sale so anyone interested, please contact me. I will also have a triton 12 foot trailer for sale. Maybe package deal.

I have had all the Apex models. I would have to agree that 2011 came with a lot of valuable improvements. My opinion would be to find an Apex XTX.

The 136 skid has excellent trail manners. Even in the twisties. I think I would have a hard time going back to a shorty.
Like all sleds the setup is the key. I have spent countless hours reading and trying different things on my Attak. Have gone thru 3 different springs on the mono. Got to try my latest setup this week during our TY Ride out here.
Had everything from fresh groomed, to soft snow to iced over pounded trails. It handled everything very well.
No matter what you buy you will need to make adjustments that best suit you.
Stock vs stock my money would go to the 2010.
Slightly better bump handling, better traction and you would still look good riding that blue and white sled in your blue gear.

Looking at the ads I noticed that these are almost brand new. Non of them are over 2400 miles. Wow, that's almost as bad as my buddy's 2006 RTX with 1100 miles.

Will also add that in 2008 they updated the front pivot or W-arm

So this just came up tonight, 2009 Apex GT with 1200 miles and has a Yamacharger on it for 5500, wonder how this will do trail riding?
Craigslist ad:
2009 Yamaha Apex GT
1200 miles
This sled has a G-force Yamacharger with a clutch kit designed to work with the Yamacharger. If you aren't familiar with this product, it gives the sled about a 2psi boost that works with all stock parts. It's about a 20 horsepower boost that runs in premium fuel. Should be around 170 hp.

I bought this sled new as a leftover in 2010. It is in near perfect condition. It has never been trail ridden, I only used it on the lake where we live. I have other sleds that we ride in the trails. There are 192 lake racer studs in perfect condition and the carbides are still razor sharp.

As you can see from the trail sticker on the windshield I haven't rode this sled since 2011. Wife says I have to sell it if I'm not going to use it. This is a great sled. I have almost $13,000 invested an I want $5,500. If I don't get that I will put the sled away and let it collect dust for another 5 years. I don't need the money and don't really care if I sell it so don't bother calling if you don't have $5,500.
