TTs sled - Rapex and some other projects

Well I had the baby garrett gt2554 on the Bender kit. It had better response than the 16t. But it was not only the ball bearing it had to do with it beeing a smaller turbo. I will not be doing a mid mount conversion this year, but I am pretty sure I will not be able to leave her alone next summer - lol. The only thing I am consearned about is the weight of the gt2860rs (crackimg header) and heat. The heat issue I should be able to get rid off with some custom heat shields and heat blankets. From the feedback Apex impulse kits are getting - header issues don't seem to be a problem. Mcx new apex setup with a mufler is tempting. Time will tell. Never know what this "turbofant" will do. I am getting a headache with all og these turbo ideas - lol:-)

The "new" engine is not as dirty as it looks in the picture. Photo lies a little. AJ takes care of his stuff just like the rest of the sled heads on this site - lol. I have went over all hoses. I also bought a extra set of apex eletrical wiring harness. I have picked out the best from both setups. I was hoping to find time to change out all bearings and the chain in the drive line today.

I finally got some work done - changed out all drive line bearings and updated the jack shaft bearing collar. I borrowed the special tool to fasten the collar. The bearing slipped in with no problems after a trip to the freezer

Jack shaft and chain case removed. I removed the bearing in the chassie with a long steel pipe and a sledge hammer.

I got the new gear reduction cover. Old one was removed and new one installed. Still waiting for some head gaskets so I can install new headshim and engine into the chassie.

Looking good buddy, sorry I coudn't find the bolt in my boxes with old Yamaha stuff. I will keep an eye open when I continue cleaning up the Turbo Garage. There's slight possibility that the bolt is still inside my buddy's sled even though I doubt it.

Thanks buddy:-) I will look again in the garage for it. I will let you know if I find it;-)

Mcx oil return pump installed today:-) Now it is time for a good motor wash before installing the new headshim from mcx

I had a good day the garage. The "new" motor is back in the sled. I also got the time for the try fitment of the Tial Q bov. And as I hoped there is place on the charge tube for the BIG bov between the delta box and the battery/battery tray. The new head shim will be done with the motor in the sled. No it is time to start installing Apex wiring harness and the rest of the turbo kit. I am stilling waiting for the head gaskets to do the head shim :-(

You are starting the season early Tarjei, but it is looking very good:)

Are you thinking about buying a new skid? from adboivin?

Looks good in the old RX-1!!! she should be running soon at the pace you got TT!! Make sure you put them solid mounts in. Will help big time with keep the clutches straight with that much power!!!!

If there will be a new skid it will be Racer Edge's set up. As close as it gets to a m10.

For once I plan to be done before snow starts to fly:-). But she is not close to done yet. Plenty of work to do. How is your project coming along? Sure you don't want to sell me some mid mount parts back - lol;-)

She is getting closer:-)

I will wait with the solid motor mounts and give the oem mounts a try. I never had any issues with stock so far or none I know of. Soild mounts with our trails might not be a good combination. There will be a lot of harmonic vibration at certian rpm ranges.
