I was the first one in out group to go for stroke in 2006. Slowly but surely everyone had been switching over. Now the five sleds that ride the most together are 4s. Our last trip was 4 Yamahas 4s,no 2s smell any more. If one does come along, we make them ride in the rear. Haha

I noticed the biggest difference was after a recent trip to the black hills in SD. We road hard the entire day, and when we got back, walked into the hotel room, took off the snow clothes, and smelled, NOTHING! Previously, the snow clothes stayed outside in the trailer, and even the clothes under that ended up sealed in plastic and outside.

we make all the 2 strokers stay in the back of the pack too. Funny you never thought the smell would bug you till you jumped on a 4 stroke

Have to agree that i never noticed how bad it was till i owned a 4 stroke. Now i ride with my cousin on f6 smoke machine and its bad. really bad. make me nauseous to ride behind him. Hence the reason for the turbo, i dont give him any chance to ride in front.
This is so true I take my kids to the lake to watch the races when I'm not trail Riding and it is a 2stroke fest, but out on the lake you can smell it but it doesn't stick on you out there. All year I've been riding the kids around on the Nytro and pulling them on the sled and when I was don't I would walk in the house and hang up my coat, never thought twice about it. Today I got my wife's old ext 580 running and ripped it around the yard once, I walked in the house and my wise says "wow I didn't miss that at all out with the coat".

I used to love that 2 stroke smell from outboards to sleds. I went 4 stroke outboard years ago and would never go back, especially for trolling. I now notice my wife isn't @itchin' at me after running the sled in and out of the garage. Thanks 4 stroke. Your sweet smell of nothing is a blessing.

I was leading our group 2 weeks ago and then noticed something was off in the air. To me it smelled like burning plastic. Then I thought to myself "there must be a couple of Doo riders up ahead." Sure enough, we caught up to them. Some of the newer 2 stroke oils smell like crap.

That wasn't the oil, that is the natural smell of a ski-doo! Chances are some part of it is on fire, burning plastic...

I must be the exception to most 4 stroke owners. My son still drives the very first sled that I owned, a 91 indy 400 and he uses the ipone 2 stroke oil that is suposed to smell like strawberrys and i actualy like the smell of it. There is just something about the 2 stroke smell that brings back memories. Would I go back to a 2 stroke and have the smell all the time, NOPE, but it's nice sometimes

I somewhat agree with stomper - 2 stroke smell reminds me of learning to waterski as a kid in the late 70's (initially behind a 6hp outboard rowboat, lol). I still like the smell in the summertime for a trip down memory lane, but I'm happy to ride my 4s snowmobile for sure these days.....

Ok, I was starting to question my self after the last few comments. Went on a one day ride yesterday. 3 two strokes and 3 four strokes. I followed my daughter on a F7 all day and the sleds in front of her were the two other two strokes. I had a headache about the second hr into the trip. I stand by you original post, I don't like the smell of two strokes any more.
I have to run out and test ride my wife's 2stroke and I don't want to because the. I will smell all day for the 2 minute ride.

On a recent club trip to Millinocket Maine we had a mix of 2 and 4 strokes.
We put all the 2 strokes at the back of the pack.
It was observed that 4 stroke operators are like reformed smokers, Just cant stand the smell of smoke.

when you are riding the sled, it is fine. when you have to follow one, it sucks. did 334km today and I had to run the sx venture as our guest was not comfortable on it control wise. on the apex he was fine.
