Hi there,
Last year I bought a 2003 RX1 with electric and reverse... my first 4 stroke (came from a rev)... I LOVE the motor, don't think I could go back to a 2 stroke... Of course due to conditions in Ontario last year I didn't get to ride a lot, but I did ride enough (once) to realize that the seating position wasn't for me... That being said, I bought and installed an awesome Mountain Mod seat, which totally changed the seating position.... now for the next phase...
I am looking to do the following - Front shocks, track, and Handlebar riser.... I want to do all with as little stress as possible (ie. not changing cables, etc.) I am looking for a good but not retarded expensive front shock, a handlebar riser that I can install relatively pain free with stock cables. As far as the track, I am debating between an 1 1/4 ripsaw or just another 1" track? Will an 1 1/4" even fit? Like I said, I don't want to be hitting the tunnel, etc., and I do plan on studding it (144). I am 6'0", 225 lbs, and I just like to do mostly trail riding, and a little off trail.... I find that although the Mountain Mod seat lifted me up to where I want to be, I feel now that I am hunched over a little bit, so I want to get my back straight again.... Thanks in advance for all your help... AD

1st thing, install rear heat exchanger, unless 1 is there already.

Rear heat exchanger? This isn't on my list!! What would it do for me? I never had any problems with cooling at all, so is this necessary? Thanks, AD

I would start with a apex seat, that will get you up in a more comfortable riding possession, very comfortable for longer rides,
A 2" riser is a must w/the seat, do not let anyone tell you, you do not need a longer throttle cable, YOU DO!!!, get a mountain cable---used
install 135mm ski doo wheels on suspension,
change your bearings, upper & lower chain case, & speedo side one of them will go bad after 5000 miles.
GO RIDEN!!! 14,000 miles on my 05

i do not know about stud clearance but the 1-1/4 ripsaw fits in there with very little problems. if you are going ripsaw, why not go ice ripper instead?

! 1/25 inch tracks work fine with 1.325 studs. Run 96 down the middle stock or 144 if you clutch or mod the intake. A 2" riser will work without longer cables, have these on 2 RX sleds. I use the Rox pivot riser, easy to install and customize your ride. Revalve the front shocks from Pioneer Performance, simple inexpensive upgrade. A rear heat exchanger is good but not required. The oversize idler wheels will allow your hyfax to last longer. That should get you started without too much $$$$$$

I thought that the RX's come with 1 1/4" ripsaws to begin with? I know my 05 came with that from the factory.

I second the revalve from Pioneer. They helped me out with my Warrior center shock and I treated the rear suspension to an Ohlin. HUGE difference but very stiff... Can pound through nasty whoops and my buddies Attak with the stock suspension can't hang too long when things get choppy. I also went with a pivot riser and Apex bars but I would strongly recommend a mountain throttle cable. Mine hits the TORS from time to time and its annoying. 1.25 track will fit no problem FYI and you will LOVE how much better the sled feels with an APEX seat! I have simmons skis and they make a big difference in the handling of the sled but are a bit pricey. Also look into a 13 mm sway bar for better cornering. Welcome to the wonderful world of 4 stroke power!!!

I second the 13mm swaybar. Mine doesn't have it YET but my buddy's Rage had it and when we took corners at the same speed my inside ski would come up while his would stay planted. Both of us are the same weight about and the Rage and the RX1 share most of the same suspension except the Rage has a 136" track.

a 12 or 13 mil swaybar is an awsome upgrade from the stock 10/11mm (depending on year). love mine.

The front shocks aren't bad its the springs, pioneer performance can sell you upgraded springs, sway bar and you will 90-95% of the performance of new shocks for a fraction of the price.
The risor on the stock 03 was pathetic get at least a 2" and you wont have to touch a cable just reroute them slightly. I am 6' and it was ok but I always wished for another 1" of rise.
For a track go with a 6 pitch camoplast carve/predator or the cobra. Forget a 1" I just dont think its enough lug for the power but everyone has a opinion. I go with 144 studs up the middle on bouble backers.
Rear suspension is your biggest need of a upgrade. I would reccomend the Zx2 it completely changed the sled and made it feel 100lbs lighter. Seriously awesome skid.
Have fun

It's all covered so all I have to say is; check out the classifieds for used parts, and welcome to RX-1 mod heaven
