Yamaha is telling all dealers that it is vital to check and most often tighten your chain adjuster after a couple hundred miles. It is a manual adjuster and will involve removing the exhaust canister. Really a pretty simple job. Most reports are saying the adjuster bold will need between 1 and 2 complete revolutions. I would run it finger tight, then back off just a bit, then set lock nut. It is important for everyone to do this, especially those do you running studs. Have fun, and get out there and enjoy the snow!

It explains it in the operators manual you get with the sled.
The owners manual mentioned removing muffler but with no detail.

Mine went to dealer today so they could check that the reverse motor was positioned correctly, which it was, and to check chain tensioner. The tensioner took 4 turns in. Sled has a little over 100 miles on it. Definitely check your chaincase tension, even if you still have 0 miles. This was just preventative stuff. I have had no issues with the machine.

Per owners manual the chaincase adjuster is hand tight and back 1/4 turn. Mine was a ways out.
Per owners manual the reverse actuator is nothing more than lining up the extension and rotating the inserted assembly back and forth a few times before tightening it up. Put the screws in where they fit. Seems simple enough. Havent done it. Not going to unless I have to.

Most times removing the muffler ruins the gasket.

Unbelievable how much the chain has been stretching on these things...curious to know why? It's not like it's new technology.

Some guys have check them before they rode them and where two turns out , but the AC manual says to back out 1 1/2 not a 1/4 , so I'm thinking they may not be adjusted right from factory ....maybe .....

Arctic Cat uses an automatic chain tensioning system. Yamaha chose to go with the manual system and upgraded the gears and chain as part of their chain case upgrades.
I suspect that some of the Vipers could have been set to the AC factory setting vs the Yamaha requirement.
