Upton44 is there anyway you could get a picture of the stub shaft so we could see how far the timing marks are off. I know this is happening but I just don't know how this is happening, mine has been doing weird stuff while starting lately I'm gonna have to pull my stub shaft and look at the timing marks i guess.

Ignition Timing (Stubshaft) or Valve Timing (Chain)?Well timing jumped.Even though it's off warranty yamaha said they would pick up the tab $632.00

Yup thats off one notch. Good catch by a sharp dealer!This is all they sent me .said timing skipped out 1 notch.going there tomorrow will take some more pictures

Wow that is amazing i can't believe that it can move like that, is that gear just pressed on the stub shaft or what. This looks to me like it could be a problem, all the re flashes in the world are not going to matter if the timing is off. Gonna pull mine apart this week and take a look. Thanks for the pics and info.

It’s just pressed on. Some must not be tight enough. This is one reason I have been testing the Sidewinder flywheel and stator in my viper motor. It eliminates this bad design.How does this happen?
