Where did it go? Was it taken away cause we were talking about a product that is not advertised here? Seems a bit odd to me.

Did I step on someones toes by making others aware of an equivalent product that an advertiser on this site sells at a ridicules price? I thought this site was developed to bring the Yamaha community together to share information that promotes our sport not for vendors to profit. I'm here to share my years of experience and knowledge with others without profiting and I have no ties to any of the powersports vendors so I'm a little confused why the HID post was pulled. An explanation would have been nice.

Maybe it was a computer glitch.

I'm unaware of any mods removing it.There is no one trying to push there own product for free sales just some guys having a general conversation trying to help other sledders the way I see it.

I posted my HID install and thought I'd share my findings so that other TY members could benefit. The DDM tuning kit is not designed or advertised for snowmobiles like the TY advertised kit. They target mostly the automotive industry. I had several replies to the post asking for pictures and the procedure for my install so I took the time to post the information. Then it all disappeared with no explanation.

Seemed odd to me for it to go away. I hope it was a computer glitch and not a deliberate removal.

It's my understanding that posts have been censored or deleted before for similar infractions to the, a-hem, "message board's official by-laws".
When I was reading this DDM post on HID's I thought for sure this going to get pulled.
As I recall something similar happened a while back when someone was talking openly about an alternative source for oilite type front end bushing kits. This source was different from the advertising vendor on this board.
Hell, I thought I was walking a fine line when I chose to post photos and a write up about when I used a great local powder coater for my suspension components as opposed to the very popular one that advertises on this message board.
I too just installed some lower price point BRAND-X HIDs in my Apex, however I didn't post the write up on this board. I posted it on another mesage board. I thought for sure it would get blown away by a moderator.

Wow that is disappointing if it in fact was pulled for the reasons stated...

It funny that the guys that complain the most about it being moved are not even VIP contributors....

Many of the vendors here on TY offer great products at reasonable prices but when I see an equivalent product at a much lower price it makes me wonder what the TY advertiser's profit margin is. HID lighting has been around for awhile so they didn't invent something new they just marketed it as a plug and play unit for Yamaha sleds. Seeing how most Automotive kits are completely compatible with snowmobiles and are also plug and play units I wouldn't be afraid to go with the cheaper kits.

Cheaper is not always better.... LOL, I would do my home work before I buy but to be aware is fine just be careful on how hard you push on this site. Its good to keep guys honest but to far could be detrimental.

That is understood, but i think the site is going to be hurt more by deleting posts like these than from a few people looking into buying something not from an advertiser. i do not see any of the advertisers on here pulling from this site because someone found a similar product cheaper, whether it be better or not, and posting about it for informational purposes in case anyone wanted to look into it. IMO.
And i am a VIP member, and have bought lots of things from site sponsers and people on this site including, Ulmer racing, Rock, and Kurt from sled start.

There is more to the story. I helped SNOWDOG (Kurt) with the devolpment of his HID kits. Kurt has put a TON of time in to make sure his customers were getting a legit kit for thier money, he also backs his product with insane customer suport. I know what he has gone threw to make this stuff happen and its for sure not a wham bam kit that nets sick profit. Can you buy any kit out there and spend some time making a neat install, yes. But there are alot of people that want a product that is backed by someone that is on this site all the time and can give them tech suport without a run around. I have been selling and installing HID for many years, these cheap internet kits are just that "CHEAP", its a crap shoot on wether they will last. I have no experience with DDM but I question the price point vs. quality. When Phillips sells a HID kit for 500+ it makes you wonder if your buying a ticking time bomb.
I'm not saying that you will have issues with that kit but just defending a guy who is basically living and breathing this stuff with a ton of care and pride and will be on the other end of a phone when you need him.
