Hi guys, I'll only be getting home later tonight and leaving for a ride tomorrow morning so that only leaves tonight to play with clutches.

What size are the washer to shim the secondary for 8DN belt?

Thanks

If you are talking shimming for belt deflection I'd recommend owning 6 thick and 3 thin.

Call the thin a half shim. You then have shims from .5 to 2.5 and removing the bolts altogether gets you the equivalent of 3 shims.

With the 8dn being longer you'll just remove the bolts, BUT you have no way to adjust as the belt wears which is why many machine the secondary for the 8DN.

Don't just remove the bolts. You want a little separation between the inner sheaves so they don't rub directly on each other. Three 1 mm shims on each bolt would be max but I'd start with two 1 mm shims on each and then add a .5 mm to each if needed.

....... and that's what we are referring to also.

Adding shim washers on the three bolts brings the sheave faces together to raise the belt (decreased deflection) and removing them pushes them apart to drop the belt (increased deflection). Removing the bolts or adding to many shims will allow the sheaves to touch and wear on each other which is what you don't want.
