what the heck?????

Mine doesnt have the pitting.

I dont beleive that the pitting should be accepted, especially on a machines surface. There is a reason whay it was machined in the first place, but they didnt account for the pitting.

Does everyones secondary clutch have this pitting?
I took it to the dealer, and they popped one off a new sled, it had the same thing.
Ugggggggggggggggggggggggggggg.......................

I think you are worrying about nothing. If the pitting is bad enough to scrap a belt or weaken the part then I would be worried. From what I am seeing I do not see this as a problem. I work in the construction equipment business and it is almost impossible to get perfect castings.
I thought that too, but I looked at some Ski-doo's and Cats, and their's didn't have it...

i think it's time for yamaha to update it's casts i'm very disapointed in their quality compared to my previous yamahas they are very rough now and with tuneing on new sleds it is very difficult to see numbers to set springs . yamaha you have made your money on these it's time to make new molds. i love yamahas quality but lately have been getting more & more dismayed at thier slipping quality and not fixing problems wheels, hyfax, darting, and electrical. we shouldn't have to fix these problems which most are easy to fix so why can't yamaha fix these from the factory? when you have to pay $12,000 you shouldn't have to put another couple hundred into the sled the first thing to correct the problem. i love yamaha but i think we need to hold them to the quality that drew us to them tostart with enough bitch'in lets ride
