I'm coming off a Viper to an 18" ltx LE. Other than the obvious power difference what can I expect handling wise? How much different are the trail manners in the trees between the two sleds. I rode a SW once for about 5 miles in a straight line at 115mph. Didn't get the chance to ride it in the twisty's.

You'll be loving it, adjusting your suspension to find that sweet spot!
Break it in properly and you'll have no issues! It's an awesome sled!

I'm coming off a 17 Renegade 137 , going to an 18 SW RTX- LE . I wanted the shorter track for the trails around Muskoka and Algonquin Highlands while still retaining the arm snapping acceleration. I hope I'm right cause I'm betting $20,000 on it!!

Huda thunk we would be spending almost 20 grand on a snowmobile. I'm familiar with your area. I have a cottage around Port Loring.I'm coming off a 17 Renegade 137 , going to an 18 SW RTX- LE . Came off 2014 Viper LTX to a 2017 Sidewinder LTX LE. Sidewinder corners flatter and rides better, likely because of better shock package.Less fuel range than Viper, also quieter ,much faster. No regrets, great sled.

From reading all the reports about the 850 on DooTalk I'm thinking you may be a bit disappointed with the SW if quick and easy handling are most important to you. I love My SW and feel it's the best riding/handling sled I have owned in years but I've been riding nothing but 4 strokes since 2006. Guys who are coming off 2 strokes complain about weight all the time and I have no idea what they were expecting? 4 strokes are much heavier and yes you can feel the difference no matter what guys claim. All that being said I will never own another 2 stroke and I know what to expect from a 4 stroke and I'm fine with it. I hope you have had some experience on 4 strokes and don't expect it to feel like your old 2 stroke that was 80 lbs lighter.I'm coming off a 17 Renegade 137 , going to an 18 SW RTX- LE . He's going from a viper to a SW so I'm sure he's very familiar with the sled, suspension and the weight.
I'm sure it won't be that much of a difference. Basically the same sled with a different motor and clutches.

I test rode a 17 SW 137. Drove it for hours on trails and lakes. Didn't like the length. Loved the acceleration and speed. Much quicker than my 17 Renegade 850 and I didn't like the 137 length in the Doo.

I get that the 4 stroke is heavier. I will be 57 when I start riding the SW RTX-LE this coming winter, heated comfortable seat et al are more important than weight

And the shock package on the 18 I ordered is worth it.

I ordered an 18 SW RTX LE 50th as well. Coming off an 07 Apex(in fact just sold it today to a friend), and I'm hoping it(the SW) exceeds my Apex. Apex was a fabulous sled for me(incredible snap and great top end too..over achiever in my opinion, and that genesis 4 stroke 4 cylinder was so sweet). I just hope my new SW can fill the shoes of my beloved Apex??
I know the chassis and handling will be much better on the new SW, but I'm hoping the Turbo/motor/performance of the SW will wow me, and once on the new SW I'll be happy that I left the Apex behind??

I hopped back on my 06 Apex after riding my Winder for 1600 miles. Other than the engine what a turd now and I have a complete Hygear suspension on it. Rode about 5 miles and said no more. You will not be disappointed with a Winder over a Apex.

lol thanks for the response!! Great to hear!!
How do you compare the two motors?? The 4 cylinder in the Apex is such a sweet engine imo(smooth, quick reving, incredibly responsive). How's the new Turbo compare to the Apex motor?

Its been a while since I had my Apex but I never remember owning a sled that accelerates as hard as my Sidewinder. The SW pulls so hard that it can get away from you if your not careful. My Apex never gave me that feeling.lol thanks for the response!! Great to hear!!
