what track to put on 2023 srx

21/41= 1.95 ratio srx
24/50=2.08 ratio thundercat
i know what this means on a car but what is the real final ratio after the drivers and clutches and track height
how much mph will this alone knock off
and will this be harder on belts
just say with stock 1 " 2 ply track studded 144 for now
Ever since the 1st year (2017) what I've read and heard is Yamahas had about a 3-4 MPH higher top speed than Cats.
Top speed difference between these 2 ratios (according to Cat Service Manual - Cat clutching) is 21/41 ~ 123 MPH. 24/50 ~ 115 MPH, both at 8800 RPM engine speed.
The higher ratio (2.08) (which is really a lower gear) will be easier on belts.
 

The SRX (21/41) is about 6-7 MPH faster than the T-Cat (24/50) on paper which is likely the real world as all other factors are equal.

Question is, how far do you race out front of your favorite watering hole?
Most guys rarely race for top end. Usually it's from dig to 1000' or maybe 1250'. The 24/50 may be faster to 1/4 mile than 21/41? If you're gonna bar race from 30 mph roll to 1/2 mile stake, then likely the 21/41 would prevail?
 
On a open spot on a hard packed groomed trail (1400 feet), my sled will hit 118-120 on gps with the 240-270-300SStune. It just gets there faster on the higher tunes. I run this same strech of trail alot during the year and the results are the same. Stock 1" track came on the 2020 TCATS with 24/40 gearing. If you look at alot of shootout results from prior years the CAT beats the SRX and most of the time and the reason is because of the gearing.

If you get a non silent drive full clip 1.25 track you won't lose any mph. Fact.

It’s rpm to mph which of course has lots of dependencies (clutching,hp,traction,etc).

Its fine to remove the block completely! I ran it for a bit that way but I think the trail ride suffered a bit with more transfer even though it was fun I be able to lift the skiis a bit more!

I ran my 2020 SRX this way all last season with no issues. Mind you, it was stock, no tune, and I weigh about 175 lbs.

Definitely was a huge improvement for weight transfer and personally, I didn't feel that the ride suffered much at all. Handling did a bit.

I tried it and didn't like it. Couldn't control the sled when I wanted to put the hammer down and carve trail.
However, it's more of a personal choice as some guys like it when their skis are in the air. (doo guys)
The suspension will bottom easier with them out and it tends to be harder on the front torque arm.

That's what I found ! It bottoms easier on the big slower whoops
 
On 137" skid, you can get better weight transfer by either turning up center shock spring or replacing it with Stingray spring. The center shock then becomes stiffer and more of a fulcrum point. I didn't think it hurt handling at all - actually better when on brakes hard, sled doesn't nose-dive so bad.

I tried that stiffer center shock spring and found it really changed my ride quality. I went back the original one.
