Agreed 1000's of miles never an issue.

Agreed in SE MN where I grew up we NEVER saw a DNR. However north of Duluth I see them all the time. There was a time no joke I was driving over 100mph on the north shore trail (my first trip up there), there was a stretch in there over 10' wide just groomed to perfection and I was flying having fun, when all the sudden I thought to myself you know this is a little fast better slow down so I let off, then I saw a stop sign ahead sign so I tapped the brakes crested a small hill and right there at the stop sign was the DNR with a radar. I waved and he waved back and went on my way after making a complete stop. His radar got me at 40mph. I thought how lucky am I and at the same time why is he sitting at a stop sign with a radar gun?

We are looking for different spots to ride this year as well. Eastern WI, or go West?

Look me up if we have snow here in Eastern WI. With snow from my house to Gills Rock in Door County is as good as it gets great all day ride there and back.

Wow that would be a very neat ride.
And the train would be fun too.

Did the train north, train was OK but not even close to being the best part.

one of our best trips ever was about 4 years ago we had no snow in northern WI and had reservations to stay on lake gogebic then they melted out 2 days before our trip so I went online and the one place that had good snow was Brainard MN and they had not had good snow in many years but got hit and stayed cold that year. wet heavy stuff and it stuck to everything just a winter wonderland and the hot sun never came out to melt it off anything the whole 10 days we were there. the trails were out of maintence as branches were hanging down you could just tell this area has all but gave up on snow. But the trails were nice and fun you could also tell that at one time they got lots of snow. we spent 10 days at Kavanaugh resort and would go back in a heat beat great accomidations very hospitable they groomed their acess trails to the trail system daily kept the hot tub open all night so when we would go out for a night run and get back at 1:00 am we were able to soak and warm up. We put on 1200 miles that week and rarely rode the same trails twice. we rode snow way 1 at least 4 time thou it was quite fun. we went up to the Paul Bunyon forest preserve we went in with full tanks on the sleds and and the riders when we came back out we had empty tanks on the sleds and the people. so for calling an auditable at the 10 yard line we scored big time and cant wait to see them get that kind of snow again.

Whaaaaaat is this!! I looked it up OMG sounds epic! http://www.snowcombo.com/

Have you done this Tyloooor?

Tried to do the snowtrain last winter. Huge section in the middle not groomed because of club meltdown issues. Not sure if that is resolved yet, now add the CN rail issues as to piss poor train service created by the CN rail itself with contract awarded to substandard train company. The snow train is on shaky grounds and if your going to do this plan way ahead of time and hope all the issues get resolved. We had the hotels booked and train ride booked but the center section for a 100 plus miles was not groomed and still don't know if it will be this year. Things don't look good for my bucket list. Read the whole thing as its towards the end things get dicy.

Good to know. Got to admit some of the most memorable and best rides I have done were not planned at all. Just pick a destination and ride there. It's all the new trails and even obstacles getting there that make it the best.
