When "should" one change their belt?

Wow that is really good mileage for a belt, clutching are you running Springs helix etc.
It's in my signature but that doesn't show up on mobile, here's what I have: Dalton DTAY-1 Empty, TP Primary and Secondary Rollers, Black/Green Primary Spring, Black/Orange Secondary Spring, Ron Ward Helix

That is basically what I run except the only helix I had available lately was 35/37 And empty weights I can only run 240 I have to put 3 1/2 g in for 270r hurricane

Interesting, I don't know what helix angles his has, I never asked and it wasn't written down, I believe it's a cuztom Dalton helix for Ron Ward.

Blew first belt this weekend. Completely stock 2018 xtxse 137" about 450 mi. Lost about a foot off the top side of the belt. Luckily I was about 5 mi. away from store and was able to limp it back. I didn't have a spare and the store didn't have the right one. I remembered from all the awesome info everyone on here shares that the 8dn belt works. So I ended up with a gates cheapo 8dn equivalent that I payed 100 dollars for. I was excited to get away from buying 2 stroke oil but looks like instead of oil it will be belts haha.

I would suggest never leaving home without a spare belt. That goes for any sled. But some of these in particular are notorious for eating belts. Glad you were able to get back and not be stranded.

Your right and never have in the past. Funny thing is I hadn't bought a spare yet because I've been reading through everyone's opinions on which is the best all around belt. Needless to say I never got around to picking one before I left for trip haha. I was with a group of 7 of us so between that and only having just under 400 mi on sled my optimism failed me again. Don't get me wrong I'm very impressed with it so far, I'm going to keep fingers crossed that it's not a belt eater. Oh and change out the stock skis those really are scary at best.

Just finished riding and have 3247Kms on my belt using Dans set up and Hurricane alignment tool. All Kms running 270 tune. I think problem is fixed. May change belt as I don’t want to push my luck too far. Thanks to Dan for posting his set up and to Hurricane for creating the tool. Mike.

I agree with your points @ROCKERDAN it certainly all depends. I spend half or 2/3 of my riding time up North (in Cochrane right now) the rest in the brutal trails (in comparison) down south. I went from TD Max Spool 17 and SQ muffler (290hp) to MaxSpool16 and Stock muffler (260hp) for this trip and I'm not going back. I ride as fast as safely possible while staying on my side of the trail.

Will post pics of belt and inside the side panel when I'm home. Today I did 293km with first tracks on 8-10" of fresh snow on the trails. Used a lot more fuel than usual but it was insanely fun plowing trail on the 129"!

Wife and I did the Canyon loop on Feb 13th. What is your favourite place to stay in Cochrane and why? We like the Westway due to gas access, Timmie's and JR's!

I stayed at Thriftlodge in Jan, NEVER again, stayed at the Best Western this time and really liked it. More money but it's.nice there and they have steam room and sauna's. Several food options there and gas isn't far away. Haven't tried Westway just scared by the Thriftlodge so didn't want another motel lol
