Ok I have searched.... On a 08 RTX the previous owners went straight to the battery and I found the wires burnt. So, what did I do yep installed a completely new wire and you can guess what happened yep it burnt down by the battery. I was carefull to route the wires. Should I hook into the AC circuit and where ? Thanks ! Below is a diagram Cannondale posted and if I am correct I should hook to number 64 B/O & BL wires ? Where is this located ?

I tapped into the 12 volt outlet wires on the clutch side. There should be an unused white connectors - can't remember the colours. I cut off the oem connector and soldered wires for a BRP 12 volt outlet and my heated shield. I ran the heated shied connector up to the riser and zip tied it to the windshield mount.
But first you should find out what's wrong with your heated shield. It shouldn't be running that much current to melt the wires!

hook it straight to the battery - i don't even use a fuse as i dont want to deal with a blown one - i've always done this and only burned one cord because i used an anti fog wipe on my shield trying to get antifreeze off of it.

But like said wire should not burn hooked right to battery.Something is wrong. If you hook it to the Accessory wires you may burn them or for sure pop the fuse.My shield is wired direct to batt with a fuse and no trouble.

They make an adapter you can plug into the 12 volt outlet and into your shield also.
