WHO HERE JUMPED SHIP TO YAMAHA THIS YEAR??

I currently Ride a 1995 Polaris RXL. After looking at the apex lineup and hearing them run i'm hooked. Never thought in a million years i would go to a 4 stroke. But when the 4 stroke revs higher than most of the 2 strokes there is no reason to go 2 stroke. Isn't that the reason why snowmobiles had 2 strokes? I think next weekend i'm going to pull out the check book and buy an apex er. 9100+tax and it's mine. ;)!

I hear so many people say that and I really don't understand it. Not taking a shot at you at all. There is just this impression that 4 strokes are slow, heavy, pathetic acceleration, poor handling, etc. It amazes me how so few people understand that 4 strokes are the future of snowmobiling. Yamaha's 4 strokes are fast, similar in weight to the large 2 strokes, better torque, with very good handling.

switch to yamaha

I switched to YAMAHA this year from Polaris. I have been riding Polaris for about 10 years. I bought a Apex GT. Had a 05 800xc

I stopped by gary's yamaha yesterday, they have A blue apex er in the showroom. The pictures does nothing for these sleds, you've got to see them in person, this sled felt like it was made especially for me.

I bought a new 2005 Yamaha RS Rage last March so I guess you could call me a switcher this year. I rode Arctic Cat my entire life before I bought the Rage. The main reason I switched is because I was stick and tired of the same old technology by the other companies. I could list on and on why I switched here are just a few reasons: Smoke, noise, engines with a lot of horsepower, but no torque, fussy to tune, power loss in higher elevation and tons and tons of expensive injection oil. Another factor was 4 stroke reliability.

I started riding when I was 10 years old on a 1979 Arctic Cat Jag and my last Arctic Cat was a 2002 ZL 550. They were decent, but I cannot believe it took me so long to try something else! My father was upset that I bought the Yamaha since I am the only one in our family that rides one now, but even he was impressed, but would not admit it.

They say that the 3 cyl. engine is in the 600 class, but there is a big difference. I got to ride the sled once this year. My Dad has a ZL 600 and we took off on a groomed road. We were flying. He was able to keep up, but after about 20 miles we pulled over and he said his sled was just screaming to keep up with me. Mine? Well it just cruises at 70 like a car on the interstate. I love it.

I even have my little 5 year old nephew running around telling everyone, Yamaha means technology!

my brother and i both jumped to yamaha from polaris!!! i bought the rtx he bought the attack

I have four Polaris sleds but am looking to move into a red APEX ER or Attak this year.

I have not switched............................yet. 8)

Jumped ship? Not completely, but the Cats in my trailer are nervous!

I rode Yamahas in the late 80's - 2 Exciters and a Phazer. I had a string of bad luck with the 2nd Exciter and went (back) to Cats. I have not regretted that move. I have had good luck with my kittys - 9 of them since 1991. Last year I was intrigued by the 4-strokes and was convinced that Yamaha had the edge in 4-stroke technology. I bought a Rage and did not regret it for a minute. No Cats were sacrificed in buying the Rage, I added it to the stable (2002 Mountain Cat 800EFI, 2001 ZR600EFI, 1998 440Z and a Z120).

This year, however, I sacrificed a Cat in favor of a Yamaha Apex RTX. My trusty 600 was traded in with nearly 5000 problem free miles. It was a tough move. I love the RTX and am sure that I will never look back.

I can't say that I've jumped ship. I am still committed to my 2002 Mountain Cat. I put countless hours and $$ into modifying it and love the way it performs. (Don't tell this Cat that I've thought about an APEX Mountain). I do enjoy my Yamaha 4-strokes and have had to break up a few fights inside the 4-place enclosed trailer...the Cats are nervous!
