Was it a reliability issue? If not, why change? I always felt that the rear mount set up would be more reliable.

I heard yesterday that it was because of the weight distribution, I would speculate that its because of gas tank problems.

there is no gas tank probs with front mount turbos
it would make more sense for guys to have back mount turbos for the mountains as it would evenly put weight all over .
as for flat landers the front one is what we need for racing as it wil help us keep the front down as we are doing speed runs .
i my self as a flat lander would not want the weight in the back for that reason . i would rather have all i can in the front to keep me from flipping over in hight speeds runs of over 135 mph

Tje only problem I see with a fromt ,ount turbo is venting the heat. Other than that it is the way to go. By swithching to the rear mount McXpress was able to use the stock header and gas tank and thus reduce the price by $1200 US. With a price of $3800 the new kit becomes more attractive to potential buyers. The front version is also available.

Hmmmmm, I didn't realize the price was this reasonable. I really wish I wouldn't have clicked on this post :wink:Buckeye said:With a price of $3800 the new kit becomes more attractive to potential buyers.

I say it's because with the strait header design they can make more power

Who told you they are only $3800.00? I am a distributor for McXpress and distributor pricing is more than $3800.00!!!
If you are going by the price on their website, remember that Swedish Krona's and dollar's are not the same value.
Also, over the last 8 months, the dollar has lost 25% of it's value in the exchange rate versus the Swedish Krona.
I am sincerely interested in who told you they are $3800.00...let me know here on the boards or e-mail me direct.

Price
I did a conversion of the price on the Mc-Xpress web site and it comes out to over $5000 US without shipping. I am thinking The $3800 figure is not accurate.

I got one of the new rear mounted units. The rear mounted turbo is about the same weight as the stock muffler and pipe unit. I think it makes for a better ballanced sled. There is also the heat issue to contend with. That turbo generates quite a bit of heat and if not cooled properlly could yeild to other problems with the turbo and reliability of the unit.
Heat, and the need for a different tank ($$) would have to be part of the reason. Also, if you had the space to design the ideal header for a four-stroke, it would look alot like the RX's...

MCXpress Turbo Front mount
Ken you are half right about the front mount turbo not being available. It isn't from Mc-Xpress. It is from Hauck & Northeast. Tisson is still distributing the front mount version. They are now manufacturing their own turbo, header and gas tank. The rest of the kit comes from Mc-Xpress. The kit still bears the Mc-Xpress name. As far as I know the price is still $4995 US. At least this was the case a few days ago. It is my understanding that the turbo will be a little larger, which will yield a few more HP.

MCxpress is charging 36000 Sek for their rear mount turbo system. That includes 25% value added tax (VAT) which North American buyers are exempt from. Therefore the price becomes 27000 Sek which at todays exchange rate is 3781.96 US Dollars. On top of that comes shipping and applicable duty and taxes. The rear mount kit has several advantages and I have always had concerns about the proximity of the exhaust header to the fuel tank on the front mounted version. A header failure or leak could have dire consequences. RX FUN

when I say gas tank problems, I mean that (I thought) they have to re-do the fuel tank. Not that it is a heating problem or anything.
