The plugs don't leak. The issue is whatever torque is used to install them must be too high. It cracks the boss around the plug.thats not good! my first step is finding the correct adapter to verify the leak, once verified, a new possibility cracked casting from ysmaha? or just get a used complete head? are their torque specs on thise plugs? mesning remove em ,reseal em and properly torque em in used or new?
If it was me, my design would use a plug with straight threads and a plug with a nice high-temp silicone oring. The outward force on the aluminum boss in the head as the pipe plug is screwed in is sometimes too much for strength of the boss, so it cracks. Nfg.

correct, the plugs being npt are tapered n crack the boss, wondering on a new casting.. remove the plugs, reseal woth pipe dope or whatever and torque the plugs in place with a possible lighter torque, so after some heat cycles it dont crak again? just a thoghtThe plugs don't leak. did you end up testing the oil cooler? probably worth doing that before yanking the head i would think. what adaptor did you end up getting for the pressure test?

Oil pressure is about 60-70 most of the time. Cooling system is 15 lbs. If oil cooler fails, you'll have oil in coolant, not coolant in oil.did you end up testing the oil cooler? probably worth doing that before yanking the head i would think. what adaptor did you end up getting for the pressure test?

Could get coolant into oil cooler after engine shut down, no oil presure at shut down but presure still present from hot engine making coolant presure.

Your pressure test may not show bad at room temp, engine temp of 165+ will cause aluminum to expand and could be opening up crack.

Maybe, but if there's a breech, there would still be oil forced into cooling while engine is running, prior to shut down.Could get coolant into oil cooler after engine shut down, no oil presure at shut down but presure still present from hot engine making coolant presure.

You are correct while running oil will overcome the coolant presure.Maybe, but if there's a breech, there would still be oil forced into cooling while engine is running, prior to shut down.
