When i bought my apex in 06 it was a top of the line sled, and now it just seems kinda mediocre, i want to buy a new sled and i dont think i would buy a 2010 apex, it seems like some sleds like the polaris rush and rev xp are light years ahead, i bleed yamaha blue but it seems like they are being left behind

This is funny I just bought a apex (SC'ed) so I'm pumped.
Jump ship and see what all the hype is about. I have seen a lot of owners going back to the apex after summits, and poo's, etc on snowwest forums, I was surprised.
It sounds like if you want a new sled and upgrade every couple of years it wouldn't hurt to see what else is available, just come back and give feedback.
Personally I love the new 600 e-tec till we blew 2 of them up on a trip, actually they didn't blow but there was so much beeping, and shut downs they might as well have. They were in the shop off and on for the rest of the year one finally got a new engine from brp.
I think the new poo shifts are quite a value $5500 for a 600 FI seems like a deal.
None of them pull like a apex or rx1 I love the weight just to hit the throttle on the next straight

Maybe I'm just an oldtimer, riding since '69 as a kid, but, all things considered, there just ain't nothin much new under the sun. Light sleds, heavy sleds, EFI, DFI, rotary valve, piston port, extra oiling, no oiling, sit forward, move backward, suspension inside tunnel, suspension outside tunnel...it's still a stamped piece of aluminum with a track and skis...any well calibrated sled is a joy to ride..toss in reasonable mileage and good power, and I'm happy.
My old apex with some revalving and refinements still gets guys on new sleds to raise an eyebrow...
You bet I'd buy one (if I didn't already own one).
Change for the sake of change doesn't make a product better. If something truly revolutionary comes up and really is, I'll consider it. Until then, let the heavy pig Apex reduce buds to the back of the pack....LOL.

I'm with Kinger........ Once you ride the Apex, or Rx 1 also, if you fall in love with large 4 stroke powerband then nothing else will suffice. To me it was pure addiction. And the reliability factor of these machines just seals the deal.
All of my fiance's relatives own modded Summits (Revs mostly, but a few XP's) and powder ride often. They tease me for my Yamaha'a (but consider me a lost cause)....
But I tell you, just like Kinger's friends, they are constantly having engine failures and the like..... Heck, my '03 Mountain Viper (which i keep just for back country riding up north with all of them) is way more reliable than '07 and '08 Revs! And while I think/hope BRP will get the E-TEC bugs worked out, they seem even less reliable also. Heck, last spring we also had a brand new '09 800 Power Tec Summit blow up.
Now I realize machines from any of the "big 4" can detonate or melt down, but I think BRP is trying to skirt the emissions requirements by leaning their engines down too much --- bottom line, then machines will blow up.
And I can't tell you how much even the biggest BRP enthusiasts amongst my in laws love the power band of my Apex. And they won't even compare rides on bumpy trails.
If I bought a Summit 800 (and trust me, I've shopped them several times) I know I would have to keep my Apex for most all riding situations, because I would miss it. In fact, I'm tempted to try and find an Apex Mountain or MTX (or make my Attak a 144") for powder riding with them -- because that is what they always have on me, that back country riding where their Summits excell and I need my old Mountain Viper for........

I would buy a 2010 in a BLINK, its been upgraded in many area's that nobody can really see...chaincase in '09, drive shaft & sprokets, rear suspension rails, rear axle, idlers, roller bearings on lower front pivot arm, handwarmers, zerks on front "A" arms at bulkhead and many other things they don't talk about...its going to be a very reliable sled with MOST bugs worked out! no sled out their is PERFECT they all have PROS & CONS and the 1 that say's they have the best/perfect sled...stay AWAY from them.
I'm not a LOYAL BRAND consumer I buy what suit's my needs at that given moment...I've owned "POO" "CAT" and "YAM" RX1 '05 and now ride '08 APEX LTX, "DOO" has never had anything to draw me to them till their new "XP" but still have nothing under the hood that performs and last like a YAM motor, their new 1200 4 stroker is not bad but still needs feild testing and some tweaking to match up with YAM'S performance.
At this very moment it would be another APEX LTX all the way no question asked!

Does anybody know for sure that the handwarmers are really fixed on the 2010 model?

Ive had my apex gt since 2005, that is the longest ive ever owned a sled, i had traded my sled every other year up till then..
THe apex is a great sled once tuned it for your riding style and weight.. It had a few short comings but the aftermarket parts help alot to fix them..
Yes i would buy one again.. But i would love to try an NYTRO XTX

Well i had the 07 apex rtx and could not get it at the time to ride and handle like i thought it should,so next year 08 i opted for the xp800 doo, well after a full year aboard it,on an x package,i decided to get the zbroz shocks for it,but it still had to many problems for me,so half way thru 09 i traded it back in on a leftover 07 apex gt,so far the best apex i have had, just love riding again.jkenosh said:When i bought my apex in 06 it was a top of the line sled, and now it just seems kinda mediocre, i want to buy a new sled and i dont think i would buy a 2010 apex, it seems like some sleds like the polaris rush and rev xp are light years ahead, i bleed yamaha blue but it seems like they are being left behind

Yes i would But if i could get a 2010 the way i wanted i would want a liittle lighter better ski`s,144 and more HP I have the 06 gt and had the shock done and new ski`s love the sled gonna keep it another year atleast i think? I only have 5000 miles on it and only got 350 miles of rideing in last year. The nytro 144 was a blast to ride and would lke to put some more miles on 1 before i bought 1 but thats close to what i want.

i didnt want to sound like i dont like the sled because i do, but i hate it alot also, the droning at 35-45 is terrible, i used to have to trade sleds with other people to warm my hands, etc, etc. maybe i bought the wrong sled because i dont like to go fast anymore (bad back) and im happier riding my 380 fan-cooled skidoo 2 up that i bought for my son to ride, it seems to me that my apex is high strung and its hard to just relax and cruise at 35 mph on it maybe ill buy a venture or a viking

He power from the 4 lunger can not be duplicated by anything on the snow.
Without a doubt I would get another one if I was in the market. Last season I went backwards and added an 03 RX to my trailer. That was a fun project.

I still love the RX1 simplier and can handle every bit as good as a apex with the apex seat and suspension. Plus I love having a HOOD. This new apex with the goofy little thing is going to take some time to grow on me.
