Just remember your speedometer will read high when you push triple numbers. So verify actual speed via GPS before you tell everyone sled did 128 when your only going 108. Enjoy and be safe it will be hard to go back to a two stroke after awhile.Hopefully the next trip the lakes will be in better shape for a top end run,she was pulling real hard at 98 when I had to let off

All in conditions and setup. A good running attack should run between 101-111 actual speed. Conditions will play a big part in overall top speed on these animals.Hope the lakes are in better shape so I can stay in it,I here they actually run 104 or so, 07 attack???
Mine was originally a 121 but is now a 136. Attack clone you could call it it will run 109 to 111 on average good conditions actual speed but has gone faster too.

Wow you have a great running sled,do you run stock gearing? I hope 208 picks don't slow top end too much?

What year was the one that had engine trouble?10,800 to 11000 is good, at least on mine. We have lots of apexs here now,and one at 10,300 leaves a lot on the table. 12 to 14 mpg under most trail conditions. One apex was rebuilt and blew up last night. Bad noises. Gorgeous sled too..power steering.

when i took mine on the trail for the first time there was probably a mile long stretch of flat and wide to I let it eat I was doing maybe 25-30 coming out of a twisty section and stabbed the throttle and it hit 112 on the speedo quick. I know that's not true speed but it pulled hard and was still pulling when I let off. stopped at the next intersection and waited for my father-in-law to catch up and all he said was I came around that last corner and holy F!@# you were just gone lolHopefully the next trip the lakes will be in better shape for a top end run,she was pulling real hard at 98 when I had to let off

Congrats. I got 06 apex few years back. Under exceptional lake conditions I hit 113 on the Speedo, lots of fun.
Put 8 inch double runners on this year, eliminated darting at high speed.
If you want to have fun, remove your transfer rod out the skid then romp on it, your headlights will point straight up!

Oh yes, the arm stretch pull on these machines is impressive. Do you veteran riders agree the speeds are off 7-10 mph???

There are many.
I use 'speedometer 69'
Even with one tooth off it is still high.
Take two teeth off, it will read slightly low.

I actually took 2 teeth off mine and it slightly under indicates now by 2%...apparently the 2010's speedos were better. If you grind a tooth off the speedo pickup gear it will be closer.

My Attak has been an awesome and reliable sled. I have done every update that Yamaha improved on over the years including the late model chain case. I have raced a lot of other Apexs in our area both drag race and top end and have never taken a back seat to anyone and had never had any problems competing against any other brand stock sleds as well until I went head to head with a stock Sidewinder...LOL...that was a lesson.
My Attak with a 1 1/4" Ripsaw 2 track tops out at 105 to 108 mph in normal trail type conditions and has run 119 mph on an ice road....all on GPS.
I still have my Attak and occasionally leave the Winder at home and ride the Attak...especially in poorer snow conditions as it never overheats.
