XS 825 Belt

Pete,
I can't really say. I went to a complete whole different set of clutches front and back with the old style clutches. Most are saying somewhere from 300-600 RPM depending on their setups. How many people are running them for over 100 miles or so before the RPM come up too? New belts always RPM low before they wear in and take a few miles to settle in to a consistent RPM.

I'm running DTYA-1 on the old RX-1 primary clutch with the XS825 for now yes.
Mike where can anyone find used viper secondary clutches, that fit sidewinder.

Would I still want a Dalton YBO spring if I wanted to run this belt with the Hurricane 225 or Ecotrail SM tunes?

Your welcome SideHogger,
Be prepared to back off on weight, crank up the tune, and back off on the secondary tension and/or add helix. The XS belt sticks/grips way more than the Yamaha belts. you will need a more aggressive secondary to prevent "stickage" and releasing the belt from the driven, and when you make the driven more aggressive you'll need to back way off on drive clutch weight. It takes a different clutch package to make it work well vs. the Yamaha belts we have been using. I'm quite impressed with it for the 50 miles I put on mine yesterday, but I was prepared for the loss of RPM from the reports provided by others earlier.
Thanks for your input and all your help on this forum. I am aware of rpms falling off with this belt which is kinda what I want cause pulling 9300/9400 now and should put me down to what I need to be at. A little off subject, do you still have any of your old race sleds? Cause that 4max 4 was an awesome runner and I wonder if it would still be competitive today?

If you're revving that high, this belt should be the ticket just slap it on and try it, bet it will bring R's right in check.

My old race sleds are still out there kicking butt and yes would still be competitive. I still hold the 800 Pro-stock record and can't imagine it ever getting beat. I had the other 800's covered by 4-5 tenths always. That 800 was the one to beat even in the 1000 class. The 1000's have finally gone quicker but not by much for the power they are supposed to be making. When I built my 1000 engine for it I knew they wouldn't let me keep running it so knew I had to let it go. My 1000 made the 800 look like childs play. Lots of other guys were real butt hurt when the 800 would drive by and away from their 1000's!

Yes! You flew by our 1000 back in the day! lol

Ya,i could maybe find one there, but there are only some viper year sleds that fit the jackshaft of the winder correct?

Thats correct, Viper SR - the four strokes, also the Nytros are supposed to fit.

They say no. I've never checked it myself, but told it does not.
Ok good to know Mike. But the apex helix,s will fit a secondary off a 4-stroke viper that has the slider pucks correct Mike? Reason I ask is if I do pick up one,i have some apex helix,s that are from vendors that are already relieved for spring coil bind.

Correct Pete. All the old helix's will work.

Put on 275 miles yesterday. 1.75 track with sidewinder clutches. XS825 belt.
Clutching work fine all day.
Groomers were out and it cooled off and track would hook up solid on acceleration on the trails pulling the skis at will on the 270r tune.
While doing this belt was slipping in the secondary clutch. 35° helix with TP orange spring set at 3-1.

Damn this belt will take some abuse!

Sounds like you like the XS most do. I run same belt and secondary spring with a straight 38 helix. I found 6/2 or 6/3 best on that secondary spring. I just kept wrapping it tighter each ride until the secondary cleaned up. Sounds like you need to start increasing wrap?
