So if I am clutched for the 270 tune with the xs825 belt and wanted to switch to the 240 tune would a belt change to the 8dn bring my rpms in range for the 240 tune without changing my clutch setup except for deflection?
Yes. I would say it would be damn close. You'll have to adjust deflection though.

Yes it should, but why not swap it back to the 8JP? No deflection adjustment would be needed. I swap back and forth between them for RPM adjustment.

The reason why I ask about the belt swap for different tunes is my Heavy Hitter weights wont go low enough for the 240 tune. Maybe I'll just swap in the stock weights for the 240 tune and keep with the xs825 belt. I like to use the 240 tune for when we are touring for better fuel mileage.
Which base weight HH"s do you have?

Finally got some ride time on my ss sm tunes with xs825 belt, ground my dtya1 weights to 72 gr ppp yamaha spring with 2 washers, 14.8 rollers primary, secondary has hi-torq rollers 41-35 dalton, and dalton black tan secondary spring at 70, works great on 240, went right to 8750 and pulled up to 8800, on 270 i added 2.5 gr to weight, never got top rpm because of conditions but ran great in trail and pulls very hard. Clutch temps were 78 outside 98 inside primary 120-130 sec and belt was at 140 after a 40 mile ride, i think this is real close, waiting for trails to open again think snow
You shouldn't have any trouble at all getting those HH's to work with the Hurricane 240 tune. To be honest, as aggressive as my set up is the 240 tune feels great with the HH's at 78.9 grams. I run the 300R tune as long as I can get good gas, but even though the 240 pulls about 8500 rpm it still feels plenty strong. The reason why I ask about the belt swap for different tunes is my Heavy Hitter weights wont go low enough for the 240 tune. Right now I am running 68.6 grams on the 270r tune. In the heel has 3/4 Allen, mid is empty, and tip has 3/8 steel bolt. TP orange primary spring with glide washers and yamaha rollers in primary.
Secondary I have setup with 41-37 helix with yamaha yellow spring set at 3-3 .
Trails were too rough yesterday to get any top end runs but mid range feels good.
All with xs825 belt.
With this set up I dont think I can remove enough weight for proper rpms on 240r.
I ran the 41/37 the year before last with almost the same exact set up. I can tell you, that Orange TP spring is pretty heavy and thats not much weight at all with the 270R tune. Do you have data logging to see if you are making boost?

I have stock map sensor and flasher with race bundle. I can watch boost on my tablet and dash. Shows 16.5 psi boost on 270r tune.
I have the 58 gram HH's in there and I'm not familiar with exactly where the weight difference is with the 63 gram weights, thinking it's probly in the mid and tip the way the 58 is cut.
