American Snowmobiler magazine had 2 good articles regarding the new ski made by yamaha. It said they maybe available on the 2012. It is the 8HV. Curious how they would be on an 06 sled. Its a double keel design.

Actually they're 2 different ski's. The 8hv is a 8hg[ 2011 ski] moved 15mm forward for 2012. The double keel is an accessory. The dual ski can be "tuned" with different carbide options...

Ya, new dual keel ski is called "the tuner" and is an accessory only ski Yamaha now sells. The other skis you speak of ate the 2011 Apex ski and the 2012 trail sled ski. As stated, only change was moving mount location forward a tad DI more ski behind the spindle.

The new Tuner ski looks very intriguing.

There was mention of a new hyfax in one of the article also that is impregnated with some hard stuff and are made exclusivily for yamaha by dupont

Oh yes. Vespal is the substance, made by DuPont. There are a few threads here on TY right now debating the merits of these new slides. I saw the slides at Hay Days right next to the new Tuner skis and I think the new slides will be the real deal.
