Turns out when you order the Fox Float Gaurds from your YAMAHA dealer you wait a week and end up with the Arctic Cat ones and pay double the amount of money. Meanwhile Arctic Cat had them in stock and for $39 instead of $79, lol.

I'm wanting the exact ones on the Yamaha website and asked the parts guy at Yamaha if it's the ones that are exactly shown on there website, he confirmed that they are. They're not!

I don't care for the Arctic Cat ones as they are easily breakable when you just "snug" them to tighten. I'd rather have the hose clamp style.

Does anyone know where I can order these? (Pic included), thanks in advance.

Thanks for confirming what I had figured. Too bad you did not see the other topic on this first. Anyways, Yamaha no longer has those style guards BUT you should be able to order them from your dealer. They will have to reference them w/an old catalog. Here are the part #'s for the ones that you are looking for:

Black: SMA-FLOAT-GD-BK
Blue: SMA-FLOAT-GD-BL
Red: SMA-FLOAT-GD-RD
Yellow: SMA-FLOAT-GD-YL
Silver: SMA-FLOAT-GD-SL

They are like $32. When I ordered mine my dealer told me there were not many blue ones left. I do not know about the other colors. Just give them the part# for the color you want and they will let you know if the warehouse has any. Here is a link to my other post in a topic about fox guards. http://www.ty4stroke.com/threads/fox-float-shock-covers.131730/#post-1185428 When I was checking these out Riders Choice had the best online price for them, but it looks like that listing is gone. All I see there now is the AC style and this one: http://www.riders-choice.com/eshopp...FOX_RACING_SHOX_FLOAT_AIRSHOX_BODY_GUARDS.htm This one MUGHT** be the correct ones in black. No way to tell for sure though. But If you take the p/n's above to your dealer you should be all set. My dealer tried to tell me they did not fit the float 3's when they were going to install them. I tried them and they work fine.

Do these guards actually do anything or is it generally for looks.
Just wondering if it's a common concern for damaging the shafts of the floats.

Is very common to see the body nicked. They keep that from happening which could cause binding of body when it passes through air sleeve. Those nicks will not cause a air leak though.

I have the AC ones. Fitment was great and no problem with the screw stripping. Just a little pressure and they are nice and tight. Just a tip, heat them up a bit and you can open them right up to fit around shock without removing the shock itself.

$30ish seems like cheap insurance to me and they look good. You never know when a rock or something will come flying at them from a passing sled or a sled in front of you. They of course would not stop some kind of major impact but should work for flying rocks etc. I had them on 2 08 apex's and both sets of shocks looked new when I removed them this year. 6,000 miles riding tug hill where you never know whats flying around lol.

Think I will pick up a set.
30$ is not much when it comes to all the other mods and accessories done here. If it can a several hundred dollar shock and look good doing it, it's really cheap insurance

@fiddlersgreen You might have a hard time finding them in canada. At least I remember someone saying that in the other float guards topic.

That's the problem I'm having, being in Canada, it's hard to find the old set. I was pumped thinking I found them through the yamaha site at the dealer and of course turned out to be the AC ones.

I took them home anyway but havnt taken them out of the packaging cuz I may return them, if I can find the old ones.

Not sure how deformed they would get heating them up to slip over the bottom shock bolt without unbolting it ( yes I know it's easy to unbolt but BRAND NEW sled) it's the last thing I want to do right now lol

I just put the bottom of mine in a cup of hot water for 30 seconds. It got them soft enough and they went on easy.
