Whoa there snorover - front suspension may be better - but there is no way in this world the vector has better bottom and mid than an RX1.
That is just plain bad information to give someone.
The RX would be the way to go - if you like power - just keep in mind, if you are a very aggressive rider (like to pound the moguls and do some jumping quite often) - you will want to update the rear skid to 06 standards. If your a trail cruiser mainly (if you are considering a Vector, I am...
1) I spent 3000 miles on my M-10 (02 XC800) and 2000 miles on my monoshock - neither is any better than the other in the stutters, moguls or what not. They are dead on similar in their characteristics - IMO. Both are great for that.
2) My mono did bottom a little easier than my M-10 - I'll...
I have heard little to no problems with the 06 monos - this time last year there were a lot of concerned people with the 05's. I don't see why there would be any durability issue with an 05 updated to 06 standards. But that is just my opinion.
Really no need to go to an M-10 unless you just want to try it out. If you do - worthless going to the M-10 - it does have transfer issues - go to the M-12.
3-5 mph loss - closer to 3 if you run your track good and loose.
Is your track real loose? If not, make it so. With the mono you should have it hanging an inch down with little to no pressure. Otherwise, look at the belt alignment.
I never expected to gain any top end with the pads - but I love how little resistance they have when letting off the...
If your happy witht he Monos ride - then spend a few hundred bucks and get the rail updates with the front bump stops - get all new updated bushings and collars, have grease zerks put in, and replace the brackets where the front of the rails attach to the front arm - they have a zerk in them and...
If you have an 05 RX1 - have fun with the install. The cooler braces and front mounting brackets are different than the 03 and 04's - it still can be done obviously - but Ad Boivins instructions and the isntructions on this website do not apply in all areas.
I put it on mine, and would do it...
Woody's stainless signature series - 2000 miles all good - all double aluminum backers - 96 down the middle - good traction and braking, still can slide it a bit around corners. Less than a buck a piece, 48 double backers for $45 - and a package of stainless nuts for a little more.
I had...
You'll get no where close to as good of a ride as the monoshock.
Spring for the rail upgrades with the new front bump stops - get zerks puts in and the updated bushings. You shouldn't have any problems - if your over 200 lbs - either move the clip on the shock or get the fat boy spring...
Jackshaft bearings better last more than 2000 miles too - that is a joke if they can't - my RX is at the 2000 mile point and If my jackshaft bearings go like the rear suspension did - This thing is gonne get burned to the ground!
Do not expect it to ride like your Rev - that won't happen, but you can play with it quite a bit and get it better.
The transfer rods in the back adjust how much or how little weight transfers to the back of the sled under accelleration - the more transfer, the less weight on your skiis, less...
MD - the stock 05 skid will have a hard time handling a beating from an aggressive rider. At the least, you should get the rail brace update with the different bump stops up front - they reduce the stress on the front arm when bottoming, this is the biggest addition. The addition of grease...
Your not likely to see them go back up - new Yams and other New manus stuff going to come out soon. Yam dealers have to pay a % on every floor model they have til they sell - every month they sit - the more they pay out.
So according to others that have supposedly spoken with Corey - it was a Polaris rear skid that was run. Makes sense, I am sure he has plenty around racing Pols for so long.
Not sure why it is a big deal what kind of skid was used. It was still a Yamaha motor and chassis that carried him.
