In terms of reliability did they have any issues with the Mega Float in the current mono? It's the same situation and I haven't heard any big issues with them...
I haul some wood with my apex and it does fine But it is NOT at home in the woods. Granted mine has a "small" 128x1" track it still needs space and momentum if the snow is soft. Once there is a track down it's no problem.
If I could afford two modern sleds the long track phazer or venture MP...
I used old Pro-Action wheel mount because I knew they fit over the rail extrusion. Line up the stock bolt hole and lock it down with a bolt then drill the second hole. I know one of the holes is over a cut out in the rail so I made a washer fit so the bolt head didn't dig into the rail. I...
Back story: I happened to blow a belt last weekend...so I'm using a well used spare. I rode yesterday for 100kms and at some point my jack shaft bearing disintegrated. The conditions were soft and about 8C. I didn't notice the bearing issue...sled ran fine...but I'm guessing it allowed for some...
Yep...I had it all go very wrong on my initial setback on my SXR. Ruined a very rare (at the time) 128" sno-x track and threw my fat a$$ WAY over the bars lol. I've got my mono extended to 128 and it works very well...but no rear cooler or studs so unfortunately I've got no useful info for the...
And you spend two years building the ultimate Apex in your head...then it doesn't happen and we spend a month reading about how everyone is jumping to SD and how Yamaha is getting out of sleds. But it's nice to dream lol.
Someone better buy new ones...or I won't have a used one to buy lol.
Everything is like this though...a honda civic used to be $99/month, pickup trucks were cheap, gas was .25/gal...etc. A 150hp yamaha outboard costs more than the Apex lol and it doesn't have suspension!!!
Left my pocket open on Sunday after helping my buddy with some trail-side maintenance....lost my insurance, ownership, and trail pass...laziness does NOT pay.
Ok...wait...so it's exactly the same as the old cat skid....except it's not...no...wait...the coupling blocks are a copy of Polaris...
Everything on the skid is different on the yamaha skid than the old cat skid with the exception of the front arm mount is a tri-angle and even that part is...
None of it even looks similar...I think we can agree they are both rear suspensions from a sled...but the cat one looks like an 88 exciter skid too but I doubt they are related...
Same thing every year around here...
I'm always amazed at how this time of year brings the non yamaha riders to the site to comment on how heavy the sleds are....here's a shocker boys...we already know!! I, for one like to see the Apex still alive...sure it's a niche market but it suits my...
You can break the bearing race with a hammer and chisel...just be careful not to hurt the shaft and don't use a sledge hammer...if you hit it too hard you can hurt the chain case.
Try WD and a small punch in the set screw holes...try to spin it on the axle and loosen it up.
