I agree that the low fuel light comes on pretty close to what the stock tank does, however the first bar doesn't drop on the gauge until you have 40 or 50 miles into the tank.
The stock sending arm is still in the elevated position with the extra volume of the trail tank for those first 3 ish...
The tool is a flat head screwdriver. Gently pry up the center section from one or both sides and then gently pry up from the washer head portion of the body rivet and it will come right out.
I have taken the panels off and on many times and only broken one.
If you look under the 09 XTX fische it's listed as Heat Exchanger Kit, Item 62: 8HA-124A0-00-00
I bought mine from Kellys Cycle Centre. ;)!

That is pretty interesting idea. Initially I was thinking that it might be a risky idea to be pulling gas vapors through the shopvac.
A quick google searcg turned up the answer by the Mythbusters...

Maybe I won't be...
I actually loosen up the back two as well on the steering gate. As I recall it was a bit of a bear but I was able to get a socket with extension through the right hand side and had to use an open end wrench to get the left side.
There was a lot of swearing involved with the reinstallation...
I know at the end of last year when I replaced my exhaust donuts I had one heck of a time getting the trail tank back in.
I used a couple of ratchet straps across the footholds to help move it into position, but still didn't get it as close as I liked.
I finally drained most of the fuel...
Grizz,
Do you think that your bumper will have the structural integrity issues that catalac described in his post?
I have been planning on ordering this bumper tomorrow but now am a little hesitant if I cannot lift / move the sled by the front.
Thanks!
Mach,
The risers are from Lake Effect Snow. Chris has a great product.
In the top two pictures they are the 2.5" XTX Pivot Riser:

I didn't have to extend any cables with this setup, I just rerouted the throttle cable...
I don't feel like the deluxe bag gets in the way with how it contours around the tank. It also has the clear top to be able to have your trail map readily viewable without having to dig for it. It holds quite a bit of stuff in there.
Here's a pic of the piece that needs to be modified for the trail tank.
The bag comes with small plastic hooks to attach to the stock plastic (which is ~1/8" thick). The trail tank is something like ~5/8" thick in that area.
I ended up cutting out the stitching holding the stock plastic...
Here's a couple of pics of the deluxe tank bag on my xtx.
These are before I put the trail tank on. I needed to do a slight modification to the attachment scheme for the straps on the upper left and right sides as the trail tank deletes the stock plastic.
This was posted previously... Couldn't find the link of the pictures, but last year I downloaded them and put them in a PDF when I did the install.
Sorry, had to split them into two files due to size restrictions...
Enjoy
After a bit of research on this site I ended up running 1.45" Golddiggers. I have had no issues in the 1600+ miles so far. As long as you stay clear of the very center of the track you'll be fine. I went with 114 down the center.
Take a look at Lake Effect Snow risers:
XTX 2.5" Pivot Riser
I rode with this setup and all of the cable fit no problem. Because I am 6'6" tall I ended up switching to the 2.5" Pivot Adapter and adding the 4" Riser. This setup needed the longer throttle and parking brake cable. I...
