You say once you "figured out what you had to do"...do you mind sharing what that is?
I tend to get a little worried about diving into too deep of powdery drifts and such with my Apex Mountain.
When this beast gets stuck, it really gets stuck!
Although I did buy a high jacker snow jack...
I put Polaris wheels inside and out on my Apex MTX.
I used Polaris mounts outside the rails, bolt right on.
On the inners I had my machinist buddy mill a couple thousandths off the spacers on both sides on the inside the rails.
The fit is perfect and the wear to my hyfax is pretty well...
Yeah I just bought a reverse kit off of someone that failed to tell me that they used a big #*$&@ chisel and punch to remove that nut after they stripped it! :die
Of course, they neglected to tell me that when they sold the kit to me and shipped it. :o|
Yeah, the OFT's wont remove 100% of the slop due to the inherent design of the steering system on these sleds.
They kind of remind me of the old Chevy and Ford vans of the 80's...there are so many convoluted bends and joints in the system and the more joints you add, the more slop you...
Yeah, I did all the OFT steering system bushings and it tightened the front end up tremendously!
For the money spent it was a huge return on the investment....just do it!
Its funny to read this in the snowmobile forums/world.
The dirt bike industry already went through this back in 1998.
I personally watched Doug Henry kick everybodies asses on a works Yamaha 400cc four stroke at Washougal Washington outdoor motocross nationals.
That bike was way ahead...
Ouch!
Yeah, if theres one thing Ive learned in 26 years in aviation...if its mechanical, its gonna break sooner or later.
Stuff wears out, usually in cycles...no matter how well built they are.
Some just last longer than others. :yam:
Yeah, they do indeed cause some flex in the retracted position...thats why I tied mine into the bracing...that helped tremendously.
I also bent the stowage tabs at an angle to reduce the amount of stress placed on the springs as well.
They still stay in the stowed position with no...
Hey..Im not trying to be an #*$&@ here, but if you would have mounted the scratcher in your picture on the opposite side of the sled and vice-versa, you wouldnt have needed that radical bend in the spring to get the scratchers tip closer to the track.
I have the same set up and thats how I did...

Go to page 2 of this thread and see Daranello's post.
This is the way I did my Apex and there is no way these things are gonna crack my floor boards where I mounted them...Im an aircraft mechanic/supervisor so Ive seen lots of...
I put a set of these on my Apex before I ever rode it for the first time.
They work as advertised because I have never been able to figure out what darting you folks are always talking about.
Very inexpensive, yet effective modification.
They wear incredibly well too...
Now if only...
Haha...good catch, I didnt even see that and I proof read stuff all the time at work.
I can guarantee you whoever proof reads for Yamaha is gonna get a tongue lashing for this one (or two actually), lol.
Check out the typo 2/3rds of the way down the page on this Yamaha "Power Surge" program page.
Hint: It starts with the word "Spring", but look what it say right after it, lol.
Talk about a Freudian slip, lol!!

I agree 200%
I put larger diameter Polaris wheels on my '06 Apex MTX along with machined mounts on the inside of my rails for inboard Polaris wheels and and my hyfax have finally quit dissolving with every ride.
Well I gotta say...that Nypex on the website looks pretty damn hot for us guys out west!
Finally wouldnt have to keep hearing all the "Yama-Tank" and "A-PIG" jokes anymore after blowing their doors off with my light weight Turbo boosted sled!
That, my friends, would be a friggen blast...
