I'd think screw extractor... http://www.menards.com/main/tools-hardw ... 465810.htm If it's completely flush you'll have to drill it out and use the extractor. If not, you might be able to clamp a vice grips on it and turn it out.

    Talk me off the ledge

P.S. You can't get more reliable than the Yamaha 4 stroke motors... the sled that gets you home at the end of the day is the best one... that's why I'm sticking with my apex for a while. Once you get the factory imperfections worked out, the apex is a great sled. My slides would wear quickly to...

    Talk me off the ledge

Donuts should last longer than 2,000 miles. I used high temp copper gasket material (squeeze tube from automotive store) and gooped that around the inside of the clamps before tightening them. If that continues to fail after a short time, I've read to grind down the clamp a bit to get tighter...

    Apex totally dead, please help!

Anyone know how to hotwire the sled so I can ride today?

    Apex totally dead, please help!

Found the problem. Ignition switch plug wires are melted. Two of the four wires at the switch plug are melted. I don't know how badly the harness to battery wires are melted, as I used a knife to bridge two of the connections on the harness side, and the gauge pod turned on, so I think that side...

    12mm bar

from pioneer performance website: RS, RX HEAVY STABILIZER BAR The single most dramatic improvement you can make to the handling of your 4 stroke Yamaha! The stock sway bar on the on these machines is on the conservative (soft) side, the small diameter standard bar allows excess body...

    Exhaust muffler rattle??

You can always cut it open re-weld the piece that broke off....or faint when you realize that it's something from inside the motor that got caught in the muffler when it passed through! I gutted mine and no problems, but if you want it as quiet as possible, I'd try to re-weld it. Open it up...

    Apex totally dead, please help!

Where do they sell that type of 40 amp main fuse? I haven't seen them in the store before. I'll be out of town tonight, but I'll check the fuses and clean the connections tomorrow. Thanks again everyone for your help. Again, I think it might be more of a bad connection than a blown fuse, as...

    Apex totally dead, please help!

I did check the main 40 amp fuse. It's a square block with a looking glass on top and held in by a rubber strap. The center metal connection looks good to me. Maybe I'll unplug all of the white connections and check them as you suggest. I can also unplug the main fuse and check for corrosion or...

    Apex totally dead, please help!

Hello, Installed DDM Tuning H4 HI/LO HID lights in my '06 apex. No instructions came with the kit. I thought it would be a bad idea to wire wired the hot wire of the ligts directly to the battery, so I wired it to a connection near the fuse block just to the left of the battery (while facing...

    Apex speedo accuracy '06 - '10 vs. 2011

Barometer is easy to add, since the system needs it for the fuel injection anyways..... it just adds the readout to the display.

    800 e-tek

I'd like to hear back when the 800 has some miles on it and you guys race them. Thanks for the post! I rode a friend's 2010 TNT 600, and it sounded like a moped, but handled great. I didn't notice any steering difficulty. He owned the same sled as me 2006 Apex RTX before that and he likes...

    Need help beating f1000

I agree with many of the previous posters that he's either got a really poorly running F1000 or something. My modded F7 was faster than my lightly modded Apex, and the F1000 has another 300 cc's of displacement. Unless that diamond drive is that bad.... If you want to consistently beat big...

    Electric Shield Hookup

The yamaha accessory is a ripoff, and it also uses up your accessory outlet, so you cant charge your phone, use gps, etc. I ran my shield cord up through the front of the handle bar riser, and it hangs out a bit (4") from the crash pad, so It turns with the bars, and is up nice and high. No...

    '06 Apex bar riser question

I put on the apex mountain riser. I believe stock riser is 4" or so and the mountain is about 6" or so. I didn't have to extend cables. I did have to un-do some of the routing to give it some extra slack, or it would activate the throttle with full turn of the bars. Not a big deal. Go for it...

    Electric Shield Hookup

I didn't use a fuse, and it does spark a bit if you drop the cord and it hits the running boards, but no damage. I just didn't want a fuse burning out while on the trail and having to tear into the sled to change the fuse. No problems yet, and I've been running it like that for years.

    Snow flap trimming worries

Just an FYI, some of my friends cut theirs on their sleds and one of them threw up a chunk of frozen dirt right into another's face shield and it went right through it and luckily got wedged in the face shield right in front of his face. I'm not going to tell you not to cut the flaps, but...

    Snow flap trimming worries

I tried running a strap around the bumper and using a big rivet to the flap to keep it from getting sucked in, and any time you back into any deeper snow it rips the rivet right out... I tried using washers and other tricks and nothing was strong enough. :( Cutting the flap does increase the...
