got to hit some bumps with the RTX sunday, and liked the way it handled for the most part, but did bottom pretty hard a few times. (no big air, just moguls). I weigh 180lbs, and didn't think it would bottom the way it did. i have yet to mess around with any settings yet (only 140 miles on the sled). Going out again tomorrow night, and need to get it set up a little better. adjuster is on medium, transfer rods are pretty well opened up. (again, i haven't touched anything yet) Any suggestions or set-ups out there you guys have used and like? gonna mess around tonight to get it set for tomorrow.

Your skid is the same as the Nytros and I also noticed the same thing. As RIK said tightening the rear clicker will help. I initially had my clicker set to 8 from full soft and bumped it up to 13 and it helped, but it did stiffen the overall ride as well. My weight is 170 without gear.

You can also reduce the transfer and this will couple the two rear shocks sooner and stiffen the rear up about halfway through the travel.

Pioneer Performance offers a Nytro rear suspension upgrade that I would think would work with 07 RTX. It involves a new center spring & reshimming and revalving both shocks for $189.

i set the clicker to 13, it was at 10, tried the weight transfer, but when i closed the rods down, it spun way to bad (lost all traction!) I had the same problem with an SRX and my Viper.... i like the weight transfer where it is for now. i'll have to check it out tonight when we hit the trails, should i leave the adjuster on the medium setting, or bump it up to the high... i just don't want the "lumberwaggon" effect on the stutters either. Thanks for the replies!

Where did you get your anti bottoming stopers I see them in my owners manual but cant find them om yamaha micro fiche.

HAd my dealer get them. They are GREAT!! When i frist took my 07 RTX out i bottomed it out hard a few times so i turned up the spring rate to max it helped but made for a hash ride. After the anti bottoming stopers i put it to soft and the bottomers on high man what a ride now!!!

After reading many posts, talking with 07 RTX owners and reading magazine reviews I decided to order the anti bottoming parts also (still not enough snow to ride around here so I don't know first hand how easy it is to bottom these yet).

Assuming I ordered the right parts, the parts required are (2 of each):

8ES-47429-00-00 ROLLER
90387-10025-00 COLLAR
90201-106F2-00 WASHER, PLATE
95817-10060-00 BOLT,FLANGE
95607-10200-00 NUT,SELF-LOCKING

I pulled the part numbers from the on-line fiche for the 2005 RS Vector.

Skydog, did you try them on any other setting first? My plan was to first try them on the lowest setting.

I'm 230lbs, Cam to hard and turned the rear front shock softer to help with ratcheting and for me that really helped with the studder bumps. Ordered the heavier torsion springs and will post how that helps me.
On a side note I took a small rubber mallet to all the ice built up under the rear end and it melted out to almost half a 5 gal pail, over 2 gal which = 20lbs. Add that to all my gear and no wonder I bottom out.

No

But man do they work unreal!!! Why Yamaha would not put them on this sled!

I called Yamaha corporate to ask why they weren't included on my 06 Nytro, as the specs, manual and web photos show them. I told him my only complaint with the rear skid is that it bottoms easily and stiffening the rear clicker to avoid this harshened the ride over small trail chatter. The rep was at a loss for a reason to why they were removed as he kept saying they add a great fine tuning option to the sled. In the end he called my dealer with me on hold and told them that Yamaha would cover the cost of the parts (which really only turns out to be about $50) but what the heck let Yama cover it.

what do these stoppers look like? pics?

Look just below the torsion spring arm, it's the round stopper mounted on the rail.

What happens as the rear skid gets close to bottoming the torsion spring will contact the stopper and cause an increase in the spring rate. There are three holes in the rails for soft/med/hard stopper settings.

My RTX owners manual also has them (it even tells you what they are for) and they were on the 07 RTX I looked at before buying my sled. Non of the production sleds came with them though.

I asked my dealer about them and he called Yamaha asking if Yamaha could provide them to me. Yamaha said no but they could be purchased. I didn't want to get into a fight over $50 in parts so I just paid for them.

Same thing with the 3rd pair of idler wheels. My owners manual shows them as does the on-line fiche and the pictures I had of the skid when I ordered the sled. The only expensive part for the wheels (other than the wheels themselves) is the mounting blocks. I discovered that the mounting blocks for the inner idlers on the monoshock work and they are a small fraction of the cost of the RTX mounting blocks so I went with them. I also didn't want to run the light weight 06/07 idler wheels so I installed 04 idler wheels and made the minor suspension modifications needed to install them (I replaced all of the idlers with 04 RX-1 idlers). I also installed a 4th wheel kit for the rear axle. I'm expecting this combination will give me a rock solid, very durable suspension with good hyfax wear and excellent bottoming control.
