'12 XTX suspension advice...

go to your dealer and order the sr viper acessory 4 position adjusters sgauthier. i used those on mine until i got the 5 position ones from muffinworks. here is the part # SMA-8JP39-BL-00

Thanks Maim

;)!

I rode a Redbeard's Apex with the complete M20Airwave/Air Assault setup. I've owned an Attak and knew the compromises of the Monoshock skid. Durability is important to me as well. I've broken every component on every Yamaha skid I've owned. Hell, I broke an ExpertX skid! This suspension is VERY robust, and the response from Fast has always been good. PLUS, my good friend Redbeard is an ace designer and fabricator.
I know you mentioned the XTX was not the right sled for me due to my size at the Super bowl event....however not wanting to move to a Viper.
So going to do the Nytro springs and BOP adjusters, star kit and shock rework along with seat concepts seat and bar riser and hope it puts me where I want to be.
I know it will not ride like Cameron's 16 XTX but hopefully will get close?

The original SS was very harsh poor shock calibration by Yamana I didn’t like it at all ck was better. Yamaha recalled some of the SS shocks and information on TY was the recall was better. Be careful what you wish for. Buddy installed stage 4 Elkas all around on his 2012 xtx and is currently taking to Canada to be tuned. Refining xtx rebound is not easy from everything I read the complete Star or airwave is the way to go.

my 16 has the up dated 18 fox shock in it. the stock shock was terrible to be polite about it and i put 500 miles on it.

my 11 has a +3" riser, hygear torsion spring spacers, nitro springs and the 5 position adjusters when you rode it. it might get the seat concepts kit at some point but i am happy with how it rides and love how it transfers. wish i could get the 16 to transfer like that.

Nytro springs just arrived. It's 1/16 smaller square stock than factory. Can grab both ends and compress some w/o much effort. Hopefully now they'll compress when mounted and I sit my butt down. Unlike the current board..

I've heard Fox makes an air shock for the front rear suspension?

Got my Nytro springs from Coolio and my spacers from Hygear on Friday, was going to change them this coming week however when up at the lake this weekend something went south on my 09 with the exhaust. Has gotten real loud again and backfiring, and I mean loud like a gun shot when coming to a stop. So my right used y-pipe and new copper doughnuts repair 310 miles ago did not last. There was a small wear mark on the right y-pipe that I thought was ok more then likely let go. So tonight it comes into the garage to get tore down and find out if a header pipe or the right y-pipe let go. :o|

Look into Ulmer for replacement pipe get rid of Exup too much more reliable and reasonable pipe cost.

Since a back up sled was trying to save money, purchased used titanium pipe off of ebay to save on the stainless pipes from Yamaha. Not a hard job, just was hoping not to tear into a sled in season as I like to ride not wrench, that is why in the fall I do all my preseason maintenance to prevent this. Hopefully I can get the needed parts and back together before heading back up this weekend. Now if mother nature would stop warming up on the weekends......

Let us know how the ride changes with the new springs. My RX1 sounded like a shotgun, turned out to be carbs... I'm guessing you're injected.....

Yup, FI. It got louder as the weekend went on, more then likely the right y-pipe will be the culprit.
Hopefully before this weekend can get to springs and will report back, more then likely over the summer doing the star kit and shocks update.

So right y-pipe flange failure. Had my old RX SS y-pipes extended and put them on. Hour later all back together and good to go. Pulled XTX in shop, installed Nytro springs and Hygear spacers and set blocks to medium and shock at six clicks. Will see how it rides this weekend and adjust from there.
2 observations so far, sits lower in rear now, the gap in the transfer rods is about a 1/4" inch? Well 4 days in UP will give me some chances to test/adjust, weekend will be bumpy, weekdays usually smooth. We will see. :sled1:

Trails may be mashed potatoes this weekend. That's a good sign it sagged some. Bet it will make a big difference. Thanks for the update....
