'12 XTX suspension advice...

Agree. My daughter is coming home for 3 days. Lots of riding will be done...... :)

Did you sit on your sled? Did it compress and then rebounded when you got off?

If you lift it up, without lifting it off the ground, it rises up a lot and then naturally let it settle back down, yes when you sit on it drops a lot. However then if you get off it does not come up on its own or go back down when sit back on it, just plain sits low. The gap in the transfer rods also has been reduced a lot, this thing may be a wheelie monster? Not sure if can adjust that out, Cameron like how his 11 XTX transfers with this set up, he can lift the skis for sure.

Interesting it doesn't pop back up. I wonder if the rear shock needs to be adjusted to a stiffer setting? I know mine is set to full soft. Going to thaw out the sled and hopefully change springs today...

Changing out springs...

To relieve the spring pressure I'm assuming I need to unbolt the keeper? Somehow put pressure up on the spring arm so I dont screw up the bolt?

All my other sleds the arm cradled behind a bog. This is new to me.....

Ahhhh, lift up on the spring and the keeper swings out of the way. Who knew.....

Look at the difference between factory stock and hygear spacers. Hygear is much thicker.

All back together. I can tell those new springs are making a huge difference. I have a suspension. Can push it way down on the rear and it rebounds nicely. Sit on it and it compesses some also it gives when bouncing on it instead of feeling like a board. Get off and it rises.... It's acting like my RX1 with a mono. Can't wait to hit the trail...

Mine is an 11, the end of the spring was in a loop which was attached behind the wheel.

My shock may need a refresh due to age, I will say the shock has never bounced the sled back up, even last year when purchased with only 775 miles on it felt the same. Just dropped and felt like a board when sitting on it.
If this does not help the ride then star kit is my next step and have the shocks reworked.

Mine did the same thing until I replaced the springs. As mention, when I'm sitting on it and bounce replicating a rough trail the suspension flexes.....
I do have my center shock spring at max preload.... Everything else is soft....

When I ordered them don't recall a color choice, they came that way.
Do you mean the front shock spring at max preload or the rear shock rebound clicker adjustment.
I set my shock to 6 clicks up from full soft and the torsion spring cams to medium, up from soft to give it a test run and adjust from there.
Thinking of not going up this weekend and save a couple of my vacation days as almost 40 in UP will be mushy trails, friggen mother nature.
May just add couple more days to the TY end of season ride in Muni instead.
Could do my cottage in northern lower next weekend for a test ride, supposed to cool down next weekend. This season is going by so fast....:(

I purchased a 12 xtx new non current model in 2015. After riding 500 km on the stock rear suspension I switched it out to star kit. I used the revalved shocks, new nitro springs, new front shock heavier spring, hygear spring spacers, robert’s heavy duty shock relay rods and billet five position torsion spring adjusters. Absolute transformation of the rear skid. Went from the most harsh riding suspension I have ever ridden to almost as plush as my son’s 12 vector, which rides fantastic. Only thing is now that it is uncoupled it will transfer very easily lifting the skis with very little throttle, it makes it hard to ride in twisty trails.
Before doing this I was going to sell the sled, but now I will ride it for many years, it is that good. If you want to keep the sled I highly recommend the star kit.
By the way, I weigh 250 geared up.
