2010 MN TY Ride

I'll offer this up again, I can guide around the Iron Range area. (Hibbing, Chisholm, Virginia, Grand Rapids, Side Lake, Babbit, Tower, Cook, Even up to Ely and lake Vermillion.) Depending on the #'s interested and how many miles people want to put on, I'm sure we can think up several different loops. Trails can be fair to excellent depending upon snowfall and grooming conditions for the suggested time of year. It usually stays cold enough through Feb. I can't promise a lot of off trail boon docking though.

I would love to make my first TY ride. It would have been last year but unfortunately the Park Rapids ride got cancelled last year. If there is interest I can check into local hotels about group rate discounts. If it were my choice, I'd choose the Chisholm inn and Suites as it is close (for me), has lots of parking space, and the trail goes right in front of it. Gas and food are also less than two blocks away and all have trail access.

I'll offer up the following weekends: Feb. 5-7, Feb. 19-21. I don’t think I could get away with doing it over Valentines weekend. Let me know if this interferes with some other planned weekend or who may be interested.

We would be riding out of Chisholm MN and staying at the Chisholm Inn & Suites ... I need commitments in order to get this going.

For the proposed MN TY ride originating out of Chisholm Minnesota, I have attached a link to find an ELS retailer where you can buy your state trail permit. $16 for a 1 year permit.

For those traveling from the south or east you will more than likely go through the following towns: Duluth, Virginia, or Floodwood (all in St. Louis County). If coming from the west you will more than likely go through Grand Rapids MN (Itasca County) and/or Hibbing (St. Louis County.) If you are visiting from the north you will likely drive through Virginia or Cook (St. Louis County) or come south on Hwy. 73 and drive right by the one ELS in Chisholm (St. Louis County).

If you follow the above link, it will ask you to select your county, and then list the major cities and their ELS agents.

The first week in February is no good for me as my kid has a hockey tournament that weekend out of town

I'm interested in going plus another Yami friend. But I will not commit to 100%, so I will not do the anti-snow jig. (the last 2 years have been canceled due to lack of snow.)

Is it possible to ride for just 1 day on Saturday?????????

Is it possible to ride for just 1 day on Saturday?????????

The ride is Swiss Sledder's ride. also includes NOS-PRO, Bver Fever, Srx Twins, and Yamadoo. I'll ask any of them if they want to ride on the TY ride a bit on Saturday.... Or at least maybe we could all meet for dinner somewhere!

BTW, we are stay at TY user Deerlodge's place near Cook, MN pretty close by. We could ride out of his place in subsequent years also!

Another thing, I predict Yamaha will have the new 2011 Apex there, along with many other Yamaha sleds..........

Now maybe I'm mistaken, but it's just a prediction. I know there will be the Yamaha Semi full of sleds and goodies in Northern MN earlier that week in Feb. up here in Northern MN........

I hope you know something I don't. I'd love to see the new stuff, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Unless we get a lot of confirmed interest, we're going to pull the plug on this ride. Mr. Sled was going to a few weeks ago, but I convinced him to wait till I get back from Venezuela. If there is still no/not enough interest, we can cancel our block at the hotel.

Mike, I'd still like to meet you and I'd ride up to Ore just to meet a bunch of TY members on Saturday. I should be back by the 25th so we can discuss then.
