Finally getting to doing some testing on these warmers as the season ended early last year and is just now getting underway. I swapped my switch for his and they still don't respond. The thumb warmer works but when cycling the key it shows the handwarmers being set all the way low and the gauge doesn't respond to the switch being pressed at all. Where would I go from here? Thanks guys

I'd be checking wiring continuity. Could also be a connector contact problem at the ECU end.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out. Where is the ECU connection for this? I'm terrible with electronics, but plenty well versed in mechanicalI'd be checking wiring continuity. Could also be a connector contact problem at the ECU end.

Not sure where the ECU is located on the Apex but on my RS Venture GT it's located under the airbox in front of the battery. The manual should show it.

Just went through this with mine. Found the ground (common) to the switch was not making a good connection to ground. Tracing it back, there is a pink plug (on my 2011) on the left side of the snowmobile at the harness by the bottom corner of the air box. That had some green corrosion in it just so happened to be the grip warmer button pin, cleaned up with wire brush and contact cleaner. There are a bunch of ground wires going to that plug and the male part is just a jumper. Check there first. You can test for it by metering resistance between the black wire going to the grip warmer buttons and the frame. I had open or wiggling the connectors sometimes 800k-ish ohms, should be 0ish.Thanks!
I believe the plug is yellow on the older apex, not sure. But should have several black wires and several of a couple other colors, which are all jumpered together by color.
The one for 2011 is this plug, I ordered one and the jumper so I can replace it if it continues to give me problems. You could also just twist the wires together and solder/heatshrink.
