2012 AK sled build

Those subdrames are built out of steel sheeting similar to a Rev nun (except nuns are Alu). They're way cooler than an oem subframe but for me tubing is easier to work with. Those cross country subframes would be pretty difficult to duplicate. I've seen one in person and I honestly think you could build a lighter and stronger one out of tubing.

Is it just me or are those A-arms on the Cross-Country subframe two or more inches farther spaced (vertically). Interesting, just saying.

I like the direction this thing is going, I'm looking forward to seeing the progress.

His turbo will be mounted right at the collector of the stock exhaust, so you could call it a rear mount. They still spool instantly with stock compression so he is going to love it!

Yes it will, with a couple small changes. The post will be a single bent piece of 1-1/8" .058, instead of the braced three piece 1" .065 that's currently in the sled. I'm also redesigning the steering arm for less weight and running all chromoly rod ends.

Wonder how that happened?

And it looks so good! Must be a really good welder Nikolai can trust......great to have really good friends. ;)! ;)!

Rick, I'm assuming its the "North Slope" Caleb is referring to.....you can't sled up there this time of year? LOL!

OTM

Yeah, I'm on the north slope. In Kuparuk to be specific. Sucks being away but 7-12's for 3 weeks at a time is good $$$.

Looks great Rick and thanks a ton! I can't wait to get home and finish it up. It's nice to have the right friends, that's for sure. I haven't hardly touched my TIG in the last year and didnt have time to practice last time I was home (for only 4 days) so Rick was kind enough to weld it for me.

No problem Caleb, good day at the shop. Got that done, got the prototype wastegate installed on the drag sled and did some welding on the never ending project. Now we're going jet boating in a bit, not to rub it in. :tg:

OTM, as far as summer snow. I lowest elevation snow I know of is southern AK. This is Cordova yesterday, I was standing 50' above sea level.

So jealous of the jetboating trip. You guys have fun and be safe. Wear the GoPro and do something stupid for me haha.

Did someone say jetboating? How 'bout a little jet sprintboat racing!!

I apologize in advance for my poor html skilz ... I tried embedding this video several ways, and this was the best I could do ... you will have to use the scroll bars to center the video. Still, it's worth watching. enjoy.
