2012 AK sled build

if you are running a 155 track with that skid you probably have to cut the rails in the front and install anti stab wheels if you have extrovert drivers, Polaris runs a extrovert center drive and the two outer drivers are internal drive and ther rails are really close to them.
the driveshaft is pretty high on the Nytro vs. Pro rmk so it will be interesting to see the approach angle you get, on my build i have the skid (155) mounted a bit back and have 162" track, not ideal since it puts more weight on the skis and it may counteract the forward spindles a bit.
on the other hand the rails maybe clears the drivers since the driveshaft is higher.

any idea if any of your existing mounting points will work or do you have to mod your CroMo frame ?

And keep up the good work its always nice to see new posts in your thread !

I was figuring on having to cut the rails. I got accurate skid measurements from a guy with a Pro and although it's pretty close, I will have to modify the mounts. I wanted the Pro skid because they seem to keep track tension better and they get on top of the snow well.

The track tension is pretty tight according to the PRO Manual, with 10 lbs of force the gap to the sliders should be 3/8 - 1/2" that is 16" forward of the rear idler axle.

The post will be behind the 3/4" tubes. The steering arm will be a pain, but it'll be nice to close off the pyramid since the post won't protrude through it anymore. I'll have to run tie rod boots since the tie rods will now go through the bodywork though.

What's your impression of the Polaris skid in terms of strength? So much material has been removed from the rails ... I wonder how they'll hold up. Oh, and thanks for all the pics of the CR arms. Really provides a good sense of what you get for the money when you can see the build quality.

I havn't been checking in on the site as often these days, and now that I see your updates im watching everyday! Great work!

I think the skid will hold up fine, I haven't heard of very many pros bending skid parts from everyday riding. I was able to part my cat skid for $875 and picked up the pro skid for $825 shipped so im not out anything but time. I believe the Pro skid will have a better ride and much better deep snow performance. Whether it's better or worse I'll post my findings.

One nice thing about the Polaris skid is all the aftermarket support. Many Ti parts from Alternative Impact, Float packages, carbon rails, ect. Not that my 8 year old sled will see any of that haha, but I can dream of having a sub 29 lb skid.
