Bought a new 05 Vector which I still have
24K miles
This is the first of a couple of questions about my new 2014 Vector LTX.

I bought the factory mirrors where there's a bracket that mounts to the handlebars and the mirrors attach to the bracket. I also bought Yamaha's SMA-MUFHK-OO-OO Gauntlets but they do not work well at all with the mirror brackets in place.

I would prefer to have gauntlets vs. handguards. Anybody have any suggestions?

I have the same exact sled you have with the same mirrors you have. I was debating between what you have and the SMA-09HGC wind shear hand deflectors. I decided to go with the hand deflectors. After hearing what you have doesn't fit I'm glad I went with what I did. I put them on in spring after they came off of backorder. It takes a little moving around but they do fit pretty well. They look good and are pretty big and well made so I think it should help quite a bit. I have yet to actually try them out. I wish they made a mega-touring windshield with side shields like the Apex has for that sled. It is cold riding it without any side deflectors.

I have a SMA-8FT96-40-BK windshield on it. This MOFO is a big windshield! Not quite as wide as my extra tall-extra wide I have on the 2005 Vector but it should do a really good job!

I THINK my friends have the same handguards you have. Is there a strap on the inside that goes on the hook of the handlebars? If so, I don't like them. They're too small to get my hand comofortable around and I don't like the strap around the hook. Just my .02 on these!

Do you have any problems with those mirrors hitting that big windshield when you turn?

I believe those hand deflectors have straps but there is plenty of clearance with gloves on between the bars and the deflector. It could be your friend has it set to close to the bar. Like I said these deflectors are very large.

Jim you should have bought my handlebar mounted mirror kit and you would not have any problems! Ha

I didn't know you offered them Travis.

4strokeluvr111, with those handlebar mirrors installed do you have any problems with them hitting your extra tall windshield when you turn? I have the tall and am thinking about going to the extra tall.

Sorry for not getting back to you. I'll test it today and respond back.

No issues hitting the windshield. Close but it doesn't hit.
